⚓ The Final Judgment: Port Kar's Fall
In a monumental moment that will be etched in the annals of history, the city of Port Kar has met its catastrophic end. For far too long, the so-called "city of thieves" flaunted their disregard for the laws of the Priest Kings, provoking a fate too severe to be avoided.
Port Kar's arrogance and blatant defiance against the sacred order of Gor could no longer be tolerated. The once prosperous city—a haven for brigands, pirates, and outlaws—became a breeding ground for vice, heresy, and decay. It was a place where the sacred laws were trampled, where Odinists walked freely in the streets, preaching their false doctrines and sowing discord among the people.
But perhaps the most unforgivable offense Port Kar committed was its theft of the Initiate Ring—an artifact of immeasurable significance. The city’s refusal to return the stolen sacred symbol of the Priest Kings was the final insult, one that could not go unpunished. The Divine Providence had spoken through the Priest Kings, and the ground itself trembled in response.
As the divine wrath descended upon the hollow city, flames and fury erupted from beneath its very foundations. A pillar of fire, born from the heart of the earth, rose up like an avenging god, casting a terrible glow upon the sky. The flames swallowed Port Kar whole, consuming its decaying buildings, its misguided people, and its corrupt ideals.
By the time the mighty forces of Cos arrived to claim the wreckage of the city, half of Port Kar had already been engulfed in the inferno. The once-proud bastion of rebellion now lies in ruins, a smoldering heap of ashes and memories. The flames did not just destroy a city; they erased a testament to dishonor, a living monument to rebellion against the very forces that shaped this world.
The streets of Port Kar are silent now. The roguish laughter that once echoed through its alleys is no more. The broken cries of its inhabitants, the last remnants of defiance, are silenced under the weight of divine retribution. Port Kar, in all its arrogance, met the full measure of its crime: destruction.
Now, in the wake of the flames, there is nothing left but ash. The last embers of rebellion burn out, leaving behind a city that shall never rise again.
May this be a warning to all who would dare to challenge the will of the Priest Kings. There is no refuge for those who dishonor the gods, no mercy for those who defy the sacred order.
Port Kar is no more. Long live the glory of the Priest Kings.

After devastating storms hit Cos, the hold once held over the Thassa following the naval battle in the Tamber Gulf was lost. To reintroduce Cos' presence, Cos launched its military fleet back towards Port Kar, but no resistance was met upon the waters. The Warriors of Cos then decided to launch a raid upon the city, as Cos' ships neared the port, the entire sky was engulfed in volcanic smog, making it difficult to see and coordinate in these conditions.
Port Kar had tempted the Divine Priest Kings for far too long with their arrogance and blatant transgressions. They permitted Odinists to parade through their city streets, to live in their homes, and preach their falsehoods. They are brigands, pirates, outlaws, and rogues with no shred of decency or honor. Their city is hollow and lifeless, sharing none of our values, functioning in a state of decay absent a sacred Home Stone; and one of their most egregious crimes was their insult to Divine providence - the Initiate Ring that they had stolen, and refused to surrender, was the final insult that could not go ignored.
By the will and guidance of the Priest Kings, the ground beneath the city of thieves blossomed into a pillar of flame and fury, birthing a mountain of fire. The licking flames were in the process of swallowing their city, their homes, their people, and their very heresies whole. By the time Cos landed at the Port, half the city was already consumed.
Desperately, the outlaws of Port Kar secured themselves in an area temporarily untouched by the spewing lava that flowed through the streets and lower corridors of the city. The Warriors of Cos could not allow the Priest Kings to win their battle for them, as much as they respected and adhered to their Divinity, this was Cos' war, and Cos would be the one to deal the killing blow.

The Warriors disembarked and moved briskly through ashen-filled streets - the remaining defenders of Port Kar held their castle in desperation, firing their bows from rooftops and walls, as Cosian warriors effectively maneuvered the streets, avoiding molten lava and raining arrows. The battle was chaotic as ever, despite efforts to maintain cohesion; it was trivial for one to become lost in the chaos. Cos' forces held tight formation, though numerous Karian fighters were caught outside their fortress, downed and bound they were. As arrows were exchanged, we had them hurting, opening up an avenue to breach the Fortress.
A member of the Speculatores, Captain Gnaeus Balonius Scipio, identified a weakness in their fort, a traversable ledge that bypassed their gate. It was precisely the point of attack, and avenue they needed to wipe their foe out. Cos' forces regrouped, formed, and coordinated their plan with deadly precision under the guidance of their Officers and High Admiral. The warriors collectively pushed the ledge and spilled into the Fortress, where a massive battle ensued within its courtyard and on the rooftops. Both forces began to trade blows in a battle of desperation. Many were left wounded as a result of this engagement, but ultimately, Cos stood victorious in this deadly assault.
The survivors were gathered and bound, the Initiate Ring that Cos desperately attempted to recover was nowhere to be found - presumably consumed by lava and returned to the Priest Kings. While this artifact was not reclaimed, Cos did not return home empty-handed. Before the lava had the opportunity to claim the entire city, Cos took what it could by the Priest Kings allowance. The Karian museum was looted of its stolen relics and artifacts, homes and shops temporarily untouched by the encroaching molten lava were plundered justly by our forces.
With the killing blow delivered unto the heretical Karians, Cos emerges victorious not just in battle, but in the war as well. May the Cataclysm of Kar serve as a much-needed reminder of what happens when the Divine Kings are crossed. May this story echo in the annals of history, so that none may forget it, so that such devastation may not be met upon any other city.

𝚆𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝙿𝚘𝚛𝚝 𝙺𝚊𝚛 𝙳𝚎𝚏𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚍, 𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝙽𝚘𝚠?
Port Kar stood as a stronghold that prevented us ease of access to the Vosk River, with this obstacle now removed, Cos has unfettered access to the mainland and dominant control over the Thassa waters. We set our sights beyond the limits of the ruinous heap that is now Port Kar. Cos' will continue to exert its influence wherever their ships land, be they military vessels with troop - or merchant ships with bountiful goods for trade.
Let this victory stand not only as a testament of our strength, but as Divine affirmation of our cause! The shadow of Port Kar has finally be dispelled by steel, flame, and the will of the Priest Kings. Those who once spat upon our honor lay buried beneath ash, rubble, and ruin. Cos stands unchallenged, let the world remember that none may defy the will of Cos and remain unscorched and unscathed.
Tor Tu Cos!

⚓ Shocking Assault on Lady Winter Sage Ultsch: A Close Call with Death
In the dead of night, a flurry of activity at the city’s infirmary revealed an unsettling truth: Lady Winter Sage Ultsch, long presumed lost to the darkness of a coma, was the victim of a brutal and nearly fatal attack. Known for her outspoken nature and her ability to stir controversy in any situation, Lady Winter had always been a woman who spoke her mind without fear. Despite her bold demeanor, she remains an honored member of the Blue Caste—a woman respected, though never one to shy away from a challenge.
The details of the attack are still shrouded in mystery, but one thing is certain: Lady Winter was beaten mercilessly, choked, and nearly drowned. She has only been able to recall fragmented visions—a mention of ink, a mysterious Captain, and an eerie red room in Genesia—clues that only add to the enigma surrounding her near-fatal assault.
The scene in the infirmary was nothing short of chaotic as Winter was carried in by a group of warriors who had responded to her desperate cries for help. Her condition was dire, but her survival was a testament to her strength. It wasn’t until later that her condition stabilized, and, once awake, Lady Winter was able to stand on her own, weak but alive.
After she regained enough strength to walk, Lady Winter was escorted from the city by her mother and her guardian, Councilor Hendrix, who now serves as the city’s new Ambassador. Their expressions, filled with both concern and resolve, suggested the gravity of the situation. Together, they moved quietly out of the city, their destination unknown, but it was clear that Winter’s recovery would be taken into their hands, away from the city’s watchful gaze.
In a shocking turn of events, it has been reported that Winter’s assailant met a swift and mysterious demise. While the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, it is certain that he can no longer threaten Lady Winter or the peace of the city.
The attack on Lady Winter has left many questions unanswered. Why was she targeted? What was the true motive behind this vicious assault? The city remains on edge, and all eyes will be on Lady Winter when she finally returns to reveal what happened during those dark days of silence.
For now, the citizens of Selnar can take solace in the knowledge that Lady Winter Sage Ultsch, though deeply wounded, has survived—against all odds. Her resilience remains a beacon of hope, and the city waits with bated breath for the truth to unfold.

⚓ Election of Selnar's New Overseer of Vineyards:
Dmitri Valente Triumphs in Heated Competition
By The Kraken Krier
In a contest that stirred passions and captured the attention of both the Merchant Caste and the citizens of Selnar, Dmitri Valente of the Vintners emerged victorious as the new Overseer of the Selnar Vineyards. The election, which took place yesterday in the Great Forum, saw a spirited battle between Valente and his formidable opponents—Sextus Sentius Placidus, and the dynamic team of Lady Karin Karck and Lady Edyth Barton.
The public assembly gathered under the watchful eyes of the Ubar and Ubara, both of whom had taken a keen interest in the outcome, knowing full well the importance of the vineyards to the city’s reputation and economy. The forum buzzed with excitement as citizens from all walks of life filled the seats, eager to witness the debates and hear the candidates' visions for the future of Selnar’s renowned vineyards.
Each candidate was given the floor to present their case, with each offering valid and varied points in support of their vision for the future of Selnar’s vineyards. After the speeches, the candidates faced a rigorous question-and-answer session. The members of the Merchant Caste Council, as well as the citizens in attendance, asked pointed questions regarding each candidate’s policies, their ability to navigate the political intricacies of Selnar, and their capacity to work with the other castes in the city's complex system of governance.
The debates were heated, with each candidate standing firm in their convictions. However, when the time for deliberation arrived, it was Dmitri Valente’s forward-thinking and inclusive approach that won over the majority. His plan to modernize the vineyards while remaining true to Selnar’s traditions was seen as the most promising for the future.
Following the deliberations, the decision was announced: Dmitri Valente was elected as the new Overseer of the Selnar Vineyards. The crowd erupted in applause, and Valente was greeted with congratulations from his fellow candidates, who acknowledged his hard-fought victory.
With this new appointment, Valente has big plans ahead, including the introduction of new techniques to improve the vineyards’ output and quality, alongside a fresh marketing strategy to showcase Selnar wines to the broader world. The future of the vineyards now rests in the hands of the victorious Valente, whose leadership promises to usher in a new era for the city's prized fields.
VINTNER SPECHES
[12:13] Theron: "Tal Free." greeting those that entered. A short nod to Lyca with her words on their purpose and reason for meeting here today. The air about him silent thereafter as he watched the room fill. His associates words doing them both justice in the moment. Shifting his focus from everyone that filled the room to Sextus. The Warrior who graced the center of the floor. The audience currently his for him to demonstrate his intentions.
[12:17:58] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren): Tal all, We - The Merchant Council welcome you to join us on this momentous occasion for Selnar and it's citizens! Today, for the first time ever, we stand together to hear those that would be the driving force in the supply of Cos' prized wines, speak on why they should be chosen for a position of such importance. To share our thoughts and opinions, to question their plans and intentions. For the first time since the re-raising of the stones of the city that we call home with pride and deference, since our glorious Ubar rose to power by the strength of conviction and steel, we, the people, have the opportunity to help shape our own and Cos' fortunes.
We ask that you listen to each of our candidates with unbiased minds, hear them speak of their vision for the vineyards, judged them on merit and knowledge of that which they would lead.
First up we have Sextus Santius Placidus, renowned rarius and stalwart of his caste. He brings with him a love of all things alcoholic, a dislike of lizards, and charm tha could make even the sourest of grapes taste sweet...please, give him your ears!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contestant #1:
[12:15:13] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood) While observing the room he stood there in a trained relaxed yet statue position, center of the area. Seeing one of the Devlin brothers off to his right he would give him a respectable nod... Their slave a enjoyed conversationalist, though he hadn't had time to speak with him that would come later on Dependant on the day.
When he heard Lycaonia start to speak his head swiveled back and he would pay attention to what was said.
He would give a moment for people to settle and find their seats and the chatter to soon idle to a whisper. A spot he wished he had been the first time around standing before all the Citizens of Selnar.
Taking a closed sideways fist he would place it against his chest and bow towards the Merchant Liaisons Theron and Lycaonia.
"My most Humble Thanks for the pleasant introduction." he would then turn slowly and do the same bow keeping his fist over his chest the entire time. Once coming to a full turn. "Citizens, Warriors, Merchants and esteemed guests, I Thank you all for coming
[12:15:13] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): to share interest on the future of Selnar, it is an absolute Honor to be standing before you all As Cosian Blood runs through my veins."
[12:29:23] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood) "I come before you all not as a warrior, Not as a merchant, Not of a caste. But as a humbled Man with a passion and dream. A Dream that Selnar prospers as a whole, We all know how much a drink is enjoyed.
Shared between friends, family, loved ones, Even used to settle differences and come together.
To enlighten those whom do not know me, I am Sextus Sentius Placidus, From a long line of Cosian Family, of Scarlets and Merchants. My Late Father Severus Placidus lived his life Protecting Jad from the day he was old enough to wield a sword and shield. My Late Mother Livia Messalina a exporter and importer of Temos.
I've taken part of many Wars upon Cosian Soil and the mainland under contracts, moved upon the ranks of my Caste, from guardsman to War Tactician, Eventually to the Personal Guard of the Ubar of Jad, and Ubara. I have lived for Several Centuries and have traveled across The lands, across the Thassa, Seen and experienced many different cultures.
When i was between Contracts i had the pleasures
[12:29:24] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): of being given the opportunity to Create several Vintages with the esteemed Vinter of Jad, Marcus Porcius Cato. Where i had not only learned the craft but also found it to be a passion. Several occasions i revisited him before we lost him, to create the Ta-Wine which i shared in the Grand opening of Selnar when i was in the bidding for the Vineyards the first time and held the Wine and Art event at our Silver Cosling Inn."
He would take a breath and then continue
[12:39:50] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood) "That passion is my dedication, to Wake up before the sun rises, be amongst the Vines and Ta-grapes in woven baskets ready to be processed. Watching the Sun Rise with the very Cosian soil upon my hands and feet.
So now let me share my Vision to Rise the Vineyard and selnar as a whole.
As many might of noticed with the former Vinter or i should say Overseer of the Vineyard. There was a mere single event held by the absent Merchant Liaison and ward of said Overseer Shelby. The Masquerade. I plan to hold Festivals, amongst the seasonal changes to encourage other Vinters, Merchants and establishments wishing to hold the best and unique Ta-Wine in all of the world.
I want to create a place where everyone feels welcomed to coming up to the Villa, To enjoy some wine paired with Sa-Tama Bread of our Bakery, Tarsk and roast bosk from our local hard working Farmers, And cheese. Turn it into a spot to unwind, make friendships and maybe Find some Love??"
He would say find some love with a winked brow
[12:39:50] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): raise to those around.
"The Vineyard would Host Companionship ceremonies and Celebrations, Perhaps with enough spread of popularity and by the dedicated work of myself visiting other Cities and the mainland, be a Destination spot for such.
There will be a job fair held, So that all citizens have a chance to earn a honest Coin, for honest work. Be it harvesting the Ta-Grapes, Stomping the juices or pressing the juices from them, Distilling and processing, to Casking and aging the Ta-wine and finally Bottling and delivery."
(c)
[12:49:44] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood) "With an anonymous Donation of a rare Vine of Ta-Grapes that have long since been extinct due to a fire, We will be planting and expanding our selection and rarity of Ta-Grapes.
With the help of my good friend and Master Smith Leon, i plan to create an section of the backer vineyard passed the villa a suitable growth environment of a green house to control the environment of growing conditions to Also attempt to start growing Blackwine Beans, to spread a verity to tailor to other cultures that do not enjoy Ta-Wines.
As much as possible everything will be sourced locally, Through our farmers, through or merchants, and from our soil. Arrangements are in order to repair the soil from the devastating Storm that most had to experience, and priest king rest their souls those lost. Previous arrangements will also be honored and have been spoke to.
I will with every ounce of my fibers and soul make it so that every Establishment across Gor seeks out the Selnar label when choosing their drink, That people
[12:49:44] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): visit Selnar and spend their coin amongst our Merchants and help raise the community as a whole. The spirit of Selnar, the soul of its people shall continue to rise to a greater level. "
He would once again place his fist over his chest and bow his head...
"Thank you for listening. You're support is greatly appreciated."
He would then step aside as he figured was what needed to be done so that others may speak.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
[12:51:25] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren) stepped forward once more, a brief look to Theron was given before she'd address the gathered people. "Thank you Sextus, that has certainly given us a lot to ponder".
"Next up we have Dimitri Valente, a merchant with 80 vers of experience among the vines, keeper of the lizards, companion to the wonderful Kori who will bring the soft touch only a woman can to the fermentation of wines, and a former leader of our own caste. We invite you Dimitri to step forth and give your dreams life in our minds".
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contestant #2
[12:53:46] UnformedThought (daricmarano) listened with keen interest. His eyes sliding to the man in the center. Lingering at the top of the forum. He offered a single nod to those he knew and those that came in support. Hearing his name, he moved down the steps that carried him into the middle, moving to turn to speak to the people.. "Tal Selnar, thank you for that introduction. I am Dimitri Valente of Selnar of the vintner's caste, but I will not give you some long winded speech about where I came from or my family. For this is about Selnar and it's vineyard, not about me. Only my expertise in the vines for the sake of them flourishing and if I am the right candidate for the Overseer Position." He shifted letting his gaze wander the room. " For over eighty vars I have labored among the vines, planting, pruning, harvesting, and pressing. Learning the language of the soil and the patience of fermentation. I have tended barrels through long winters and tasted vintages aged in silence." He exhaled letting his eyes bounce between stranger and
[12:53:46] UnformedThought (daricmarano): friend. "I come before you not merely as a man of skill, but as one who seeks stewardship. The vineyards of Selnar are known, even as far as the walls of Ar, for their potential. Fertile and proud, yet yearning for a hand that knows their ways. I would place myself in your service, not as a stranger to toil, but as one who would honor the land as if it were my own, and tend your holdings with the same care I have given my family's vines." He took a moment to breathe, making sure everyone followed. (C)
[12:58:04] UnformedThought (daricmarano): "Let it be understood: I do not seek station for its trappings, but for the chance to craft something lasting. Wine is not born of haste or vanity, but it is born of patience, precision, and purpose. These I offer, humbly yet confidently, to the City of Selnar." A turn to put his hand to his shoulder.
"Should you grant me the opportunity to oversee your vineyard, I shall ensure it yields not only fine harvests, but brings continued honor to the name of Selnar. The vineyard, properly tended, will boost the local economy and strengthen ties within the Merchant Caste." Offering a bit of a smile.
"I have established working arrangements with several merchants and tradesmen across the city. Many among you can confirm these dealings, such as business with the kennels, the tavern and other trading houses. It is my intention that such commerce not only continue, but grow. The wealth of the city, particularly that which flows through the Merchant Caste, thrives when the vineyard flourishes." Adamant he would affirm
[12:58:04] UnformedThought (daricmarano): with a bit of nod offered them. "nd it is not only trade I envision. The vineyard can become a place the city is proud to show, a place of refined culture and subtle influence. Private gatherings, wine tastings, guided tours of the vines, even workshops in the art of winemaking. All of these are possible, and all would serve the standing of the City. Yet these things are secondary." A small glance back to Lyca and Theron, before turning back to the people.
"At the heart of this, I wish only for the vines to succeed. They must be guided by a practiced hand, not left to wither under the touch of inexperience. This is no idle pursuit for me. It is not a hobby, not a passing trade. It is my life’s work." He hummed, the seriousness of his plea offered in his eyes.
"To place a vineyard into the hands of one who is not a vintner is akin to placing a wounded warrior before a scribe and expecting him to rise, whole without a physician. It is not only unwise it is a disservice to the land, to the caste, and to
[12:58:04] UnformedThought (daricmarano): the city that holds it."
"Grant me this charge, and I shall return to you a vineyard that speaks with pride, that drinks with elegance, and that pours wealth and honor into the city’s cup. Again, thank you for your consideration and for listening. I leave the choice in your hands." He offered a small incline of his head in respect, before he would turn to move back towards his place.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
[13:02:25] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren) dipped her head with respect to Dimitri as he came to an end of his speech, "Thank you Dimitri Valente, as ever your words are efficient, concise and yet full of intention...we have one more speaker to step forth", her hand lifting, gesturing the woman to take the floor, "Lady Karin, a merchant of distant lands who proposes to join our homestone if successful in her bid, and will be working alongside Lady Edyth of the scribes...Please Karin, take the floor and speak to the people of your plans for Selnar's famous vineyard"

Contestant #3
[13:07:06] Karin Klarck (karinklarck): Karin slowly advances into the room, feeling many eyes on her... she knows her partner Edith is traveling and won't be here, and this makes her a little nervous... but now she's there... and all she can do is talk...
Smiling from under her veil, she turns around several times and, nodding, takes a deep breath and begins.
Dear citizens of Selnar, I don't think you know each other. Let me introduce myself. I am Lady Karin Klarck, and as you might imagine, I am a merchant. I was called here by one of your fellow citizens, Lady Edith Baldrin, a member of the Blue Caste. She informed me of the possibility of managing and creating new vineyards. Your lands are very fertile, and it has been discussed for a long time in the merchants' halls, so... here I am to present our project... but first, I would like to tell you who we are and what we produce:
The KK farm has belonged to the Klarck family and the Baldrin family...
Initially, our vineyards were located at the gates of the glorious Ar, are renowned
[13:07:06] Karin Klarck (karinklarck): throughout Gor-
The wine was initially produced for exclusive family use, in contrast to the production standards of the time that tended to favor quantity over quality.
The high level of quality and the abundant seasons led the Klarck family to produce for a few Merchants, selected with great care, who over time became exclusive retailers.
The climatic factors in the vegetative phase of the vine (April-September) play a fundamental role in the final characteristics of a given vintage.
However, the selection of the best grapes, the winemaking method and the subsequent aging and refinement must also be added.
As with all prestigious wines, the old and/or great vintages soon reached significant prices, often the subject of research among enthusiasts and traders.
Particularly suitable for game and foods with an intense flavor, especially bosk stew, tarsk fillets and cheeses with a strong flavor. Also recommended is the simple combination with some walnuts and mushrooms, seasoned with a few drops of oil
[13:07:06] Karin Klarck (karinklarck): and some aromatic herbs.
Our leading products in the market are well established and we can produce them here too...
we have grafts ready and in less than 4 hands we can start planting the plants to have a next high-quality harvest

[13:13:01] Theron (sagunn): as Sextus and Dmitry both had pledged their intentions, their histories and natures. What they intended for the Ubar's property and the prosperity of the city he listened. Without word, only thought, weighing each individual before him on the scales of his Caste. Watching as each presented their case, "Thank you Lyca for the introduction of our first two, and our last presenter." offering a short nod, and with respect to. Turning to look over the citizens present before focusing on Karin. "Thank you for your time and efforts in presenting all." motioning around the room then to the citizens, "People of Selnar, the time now here, is yours. Ask those who have spoken before you any questions you might have in this very forum."
[13:14:07] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren) stepped forward once more, the still full, almost overly so goblet held in the fold of one hand, "Thank you Lady Karin, you certainly have a wealth of knowledge on the subject, that cannot be refuted", though one had to question the words on MAKING Selnar a prestigious city, as if it weren't already. An somewhat concerned look was cast the Ubar's way as if the man might take offense. With a deep breath, she'd speak over the crowd gathered, "We now invite all three candidates to stand side by side on the floor. For you, the people of Selnar, high caste and low, to put forth your questions to the candidates"

[13:19:50] ʟɪʟʏ (jizzy.jupiter) stepped forward a bit as the floor was offered for questions, when there was a moment she would project her voice after nodding to Acadius, "I have two questions. One is for Sextus. You have mentioned proposing in the past. I know you as a warrior though, though one that is injured somewhat? We have two dedicated caste members here, while you would have competing caste responsibilities. Are you willing to actually dedicate yourself to the caste as vintner or merchant? Knowing that once you leave the warrior caste you would not be able to likely return to it?" My second question is to ALL. What is ONE thing you each would do to bring our citizens to the vineyard day-to-day."
[13:27:54] UnformedThought (daricmarano) slid his eyes to the Ubara. He offered her a smile and dipped his chin in reverence. "That is a very good question. That vineyard has sat idle too long, it needs to become a place of warmth and of welcome. Let it be known it is not a private home, it is a place of business like the markets. All people are welcome. All that takes is an awareness among the people and an announcement. It would start with regular events and parties, as well as creating a place among the vines for comfort that does not interfere with the business. I am in the dealings as well with the kennels for the use or rental of girls to work the fields and to serve the free as required. Those tables and chairs are cold and unwelcoming, I intend to change that."
[13:28:58] Karin Klarck (karinklarck): She smiles slowly from under her veil and calmly replies * just a glass of the precious nectar that the vineyards will produce with our wisdom and experience is enough for every citizen of Selnar to want to have a plant in their garden to have that delight in their own home, this will be possible after a training course that will be offered to them to introduce them to this fascinating world made of knowledge, taste and passion! Our mission is to bring the citizen between the land and the vines, to let him taste the grapes on the vineyards again, to get his hands dirty in picking the fruit and to bring it, step by step, to the finished product... and our greatest satisfaction will be to hear him decant the wine he has on his table as if he had been the one to produce it.
[13:29:52] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood) Would step forwards and turn to face the Ubara fully to give his undivided attention.
"Yes, Correct when Selnar was made the new Capital of Cos i had a Kurr injury in my right arm that was still healing. Though it held no reason for me running for the Position of Vinter. As i said i've lived a long life, and was able to find a passion that fills me entirely.
Should i be granted this honor of Overseer of the Vineyards, i will be taking full steps to change castes and get all legal and proper documentation so that i may Take over for the Vinter and travel and conduct business with other cities. To promote Selnar and its many quality and rare wines to come.
I understand not being able to return to the Caste of Warriors, but regardless of my caste nor position i will always defend Selnar and its citizens as any able man should."
He would then recount his goal the specific one.
"Turn the main level of the villa into a wine bar sort to speak. A place that has a most welcoming and romantic
[13:29:52] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): atmosphere. A place for local Bakers and farmers to have their goods sold, overall just keeping the community together.
A place to host celebrations and events, but overall a place for everyone to unwind and enjoy the fresh scents and air."
[13:41:13] ʟɪʟʏ (jizzy.jupiter) gave her attention to each as she spoke, her veils hiding if she favored any of the answers given, "Thank you all for your thorough answers. The council has a tough decision to make. I hope that regardless you all continue to work with the vineyard to show your dedication to one of our greatest exports." It wasnt like the place couldnt have more than one export working its fields, but she perhaps was naively female with that perspective.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question 2:
[13:34:30] Bashir Hasan (kirtanu) would take his feet off Farahs back who he had used as foot stool and push himself off Dalia who had functioned as his back padding here listening the words f the people and stood up. he swayed slightly and looked again at the GIANT tankard. it was not helping him to keep him balance so he would simply push it into the hands of the next man behind him - incidentally the Ubar - with the words "Strong stuff. have one"
He would try to step forward but had forgotten Farah and stumbled over her tumbling head first into the middle of the forum. but he seemed to be still very agile, surprisingly so and roll over his shoulder to his feet. three steps forwards, two back, two to the left then one right and he managed to find his balance with swaying arms. he hiccuped "Ill get you for that one Lycaonia" he mumbled obviously that was a thought spoken out loud on accident.
"I am Bashir, yes that i am" he said and took a deep breath "I want to ask everyone a question. As for the lady she is not of Selnar. Are we
[13:34:30] Bashir Hasan (kirtanu): desperate enough to call in a stranger to tend to our cosian wines? Is it needed to hand that away to get a new citizen? Dont we have enough others OF cos that can do that?" he pointed at sextus and dimitri Yes we do!" he exclaimed and swayed some more by now keeping balance with outstretched arms.
[13:34:42] Bashir Hasan (kirtanu): (c)
[13:34:50] Bashir Hasan (kirtanu) "Both seasoned vintners by their words, both citizens and wanting to do their best. Dimitri a merchant with all the time in the world to concentrate on our goods of pride: wine. The other is a warrior who saays he will join the merchants sure but He speaks of getting black wine to grow which surely will lead to either a trade war or even real war with Thentis. There shows his lack of merchant knowledge! warrior at heart, respect"
he tried to toast at Sextus then noted he had no tankard anymore to do so and looked confused around and saw the ubar with it. it looked like he wanted to say something to him but then did not shrugged and continued "So in my opinion for the good of selnar there can be only one choice" he inhaled deeply "And that is Dimitri, a merchant with a level head an experience. Dont you all think so too?" he would look at the three "Dont you think so as well?" then he turned around nearly falling and sat down again on top of Farahs back.
[13:44:11] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren) had listened to the three speak, each had their merit, each their ideas that she could easily envision enjoying herself. And then there was Bashir, with those muttered words that echoed through the hall, "My fine colleague, Bashir Ibn...", her hand wafting as if she simply couldn't be bothered to reel off his entire ancestry to those who'd no doubt heard it all half a dozen times before, "If you cannot handle a little wine, I would suggest you don't accept it's service...perhaps once the vineyards are in full fruit again, we can work on your tolerance", her lips quirking beneath her veil, humoured words tinged with a little something deeper that was shared with that man alone. "You speak well, if not entirely clearly....yet the city may well prosper with more of our caste present, and if the competition is strong, would we not want to bring those best for the job in to our fold rather than allow competitors to have the upper hand. I must agree on the Blackwine though...when I raised that thought with Sextus, it was intended as a joke, I presumed he would know customs and merchant politics well enough to understand that there could not be the growing of blackwines on our soil, not without provocation of a city that would no doubt provide more challenge than Port Kar did"
[13:45:18] Karin Klarck (karinklarck): She listens to the merchant's words without showing any emotion. She knew many thought this way. In every city that came to offer opportunities and development, there was always someone conservative... who could blame them? Maybe it was true, maybe not... it depended a lot on the city's open-mindedness, so... she turns to the man and responds kindly but firmly in her convictions. If the City of Selnar thought like you... Sir... it certainly wouldn't have allowed a merchant from out of town to participate, don't you think? But that didn't happen, and it shows an extraordinary openness to the future, to make the city of Selnar even more powerful and prosperous. Perhaps our skills in creating and developing this market can be a lifeblood for the city itself. Don't look at me as an enemy, but rather as a merchant who is here to help, if ever there was a need, a city become even stronger commercially. And I remind you, dear colleague... that I am only 50% of the company; the other 50% is one of you... Lady Edith Baldrin, respected woman of law in Selnar since its first construction. Without taking anything away, of course, from the merchants who are here beside me and who have proposed their development projects to you.
[13:51:49] Bashir Hasan (kirtanu) huffed "So what you are saying is 50% of the profits may end up outside of Selner outside of Cos, Lady, or will the complete KK move here as new citizens? Do you have a companion where you are from or a guardian who could rule over that 50%? Is that 50% surely to remain Cosian?" he cut in forgetting his manners and shooting Lycaonia another set of stare daggers for the deception with the wine she had Mindar serve him.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question 3: (only 1 contestant actually answered this question - Unformed)
[13:38:53] K A E L A (yenniferrivia) waited a moment to see if anyone else was going to ask any further questions before she would lift her stylus in an attempt to get attention momentarily. "I have a couple of questions but will do my best not to monopolize this process. Given the cultural significance of wine in our society, how do you plan to integrate traditional Selnari values into the wine production process?"
Question 4:
[13:48:35] Lukas Devlin (detaileddeath) watched the intoxicated display with a hidden sense of amusement but it was immediately tempered as personal preference made itself known, he spoke up. "Experience has its place but lack of knowledge is not a fault but an opportunity to be remedied and in the way that is expected. We do not fault men untrained with a sword but rather bring him in and teach him the use of a blade. Is that not the caste and community idea we have heard reiterated so much today?" he waited as Kaela asked her question. "I would also ask if any of you have given thought to the first event you might host? and if there is any portion of profits to be donated back to the city?"
[13:53:13] UnformedThought (daricmarano) dipped his chin, a small motion to Bashir as if intend to aid him, but he seemed to get himself in order. A bit of a smirk, he lifted his eyes to the Ubar and Ubara and dipped his chin. "Thank you." A flick of his eyes back to Bashir, with a chuckle at his words. "Appreciated, Bashir." He supplied with a hand to his shoulder. He shifted his eyes to Kaela. Hearing her question. "The vineyard, like any endeavor, must reflect the values of the House that stewards it. In Selnar, I see discipline, refinement, honor, and pride not only in its holdings, but in its traditions. These values shall not merely influence the wine we craft; they shall define it. Discipline will guide the cultivation. Refinement shall be found in the cup itself. Honor will shape our dealings for I will continue to forge strong, honest partnerships with merchants and tradesmen under fair terms. And finally, earned pride will be instilled in those who work the land beside me." He shifted his gaze towards Lukas hearing his words he nodded
[13:53:13] UnformedThought (daricmarano): his head simply. "Yes, a wine tasting, of course. Seems the first logical event, though there is much work to be done first since the vines have been left unattended for so long by the prior Overseer. Though too that prior Overseer was not a merchant of a vintner either. All events in the name of the city held at the vineyard, should have a portion of profit given back to the city."
13:56:51] Karin Klarck (karinklarck): she nods with growing conviction * first event is soon said ... the creation of the vine itself, everyone's participation will be required, if they want to, to create the vineyards together ... the most tiring work will obviously be done by the slaves, there is no doubt about that, but the strongest emotion will be that of planting the vine that the city will have chosen on the land of Selnar and for this ... the first event will be a tasting meeting of the wine we propose and to understand the preferences of the citizens and from there start the project ... together ... it will not be the vines of a merchant that we will plant, it will be the wine that the citizens have wanted to produce ... obviously then our experience as merchants will support them to ensure that a common desire is transformed into a reality that is flourishing and brings wealth to the city itself ... as for our work ... well, the profit will be in proportion to the final turnover
[14:13:51] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren) would look to Theron after his question was posed, they had both followed the actions of those seeking the position of overseer closely, discussed their proposals in detail, met with those that had been available and sought to pick deeper in to their minds. It had been a week of seemingly ceaseless work, all culminating in this display of passion and knowledge combined. She felt the jostling of her girls behind her, not physically but with that aura of knowing that so often happened between an owner and their property, the slightest of chuckles parted her lips as she cast a glance back to them, her head dipping ever so slightly, permitting Tali to have a drink if for no other reason than standing so still for so long was tedious. "Lady Karin, if you would answer Lady Kaela's question as to how you propose to integrate traditional Selnari values in to the wine production...then we might wrap this up?", a brief questioning look cast to Theron to ensure he was in agreement. Citrus had been a fantastic
[14:13:51] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren): slave, if anything her leaving with her owner had been more of a loss to the city than he, but others could be trained to be just as knowledgeabel
[14:21:24] Karin Klarck (karinklarck): Karin turns to the woman in blue who had asked the question * I apologize if my answer was evasive, the values of your city are important and sacred, every citizen carries them with him, guarding them with love and pride, so when we invite the citizen of Selnar to participate in the construction of the vineyard with his tastes and preferences it is as if he himself transmits the values of the city to the land itself that welcomes and protects him ... give what the land asks ... it will respond to you with prosperity and power
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question 5:
[14:00:26] Theron (sagunn): listening to many of the questions and answers spoken by the public and the interested then posing one of his own, "As a member of the public, not as a man of the Merchants with this question..." bring his voice in to the forum now, "I observed one man with his actions and firsthand knowledge and reports tending to the vineyard. Where little bitty reptiles ate the bugs that might plague a vine." motioning to Dmitri Valiente with this statement, "He stands before you now." continuing his line of thought before adding further, "It is a well known fact, and in confirming this with the minds who study animals that the four legged species are not herbivores by nature, they eat the many legged that are a plague to many a crop. Insects." looking between the first then Sextus, "You speak of experience, and a family history with the vines yet you are still not a Merchant. So, with the displayed action spoken upon. How will you care for something that is beyond your scope of understanding in practice and facts? In
[14:00:26] Theron (sagunn): truths?" considering the words of the individual before him spoken prior, "Your words and concepts are solid, perhaps with this explanation you can display to all of us here the mind that will run the business." all having answered the Ubara's question directly now before he spoke.
[14:04:27] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood) Raised a brow as the man was making a fool of himself and the public forum. Obviously someone who came to support a single person.
"While i agree with some of what you've said. Keeping the vineyards within Cosian blood and hand would be my recommended outcome. Of course the Blackwine Beans were a take on humor, to See truly if the Merchant castes will speak freely and openly. Do not take me as simply a sword, what i have in mind is with all of Selnars interest in mind.
As always there are goals to things spoken, and ultimately the only thing that truly matters is the spirit and name of Selnar as a whole. Getting the community together and making it a place for all to prosper not just a single Vinter.
That is why i've put a great deal of time between the first bidding and this open Forum for the overseer of the Vineyards. I've made arrangements with merchants, for exchange to get local excrements of the livestocks for the mash, For Such to be crafted into specifically nutrient blends that will help
[14:04:27] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): our Vines and Ta-grapes excel and flourish. To exporters and importers within our city to get whats needed and get our Ta-Wines out to the mainlands. What is a city if it does not work together?
And what is a Dream and Goal if not fought for ?? While i may not have 80 Vers of experience, i have seen the entire process from start to finish, learned knowledge of how to cultivate soils even in the harshest environments, and im not afraid to do the labor day in day out."
Perhaps sextus was a bit heated in his words but it was his passion.
Hearing Lukas he would shift his stance to address him as well.
"A wonderful question to be asked. " hearing Dimitri he would sigh just a tad.
"Though i will have to disagree with you, However much as i did not like the previous owner of the vineyard. Those vines were well tended to, the slave and workers amongst the vines took a great deal of dedication to preserve and work the vines, and yield great Ta-Grapes. I personally worked along side that slave Citrus before
[14:04:27] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): the bidding was complete the first time, whom im sure most of you seen out there constantly. "
"Turning back to the question of lukas (sorry trying to keep up) The tasting and opening of the wine bar i spoke of, held for a single night pending a few alterations to get the villa up to snuff. Of course this would be held on my own dime free for all that attend. Later on as events are held there will be a portion going back to the local economy through our farmers, bakers, and citizens. Those hired to work upon the vineyards will also see the fruits of said profits."
Hearing Theron it was yet another false statement unfortunately.
"While mostly true about such creatures as lizards. But they are omnivores and when a disaster such as the storm hit driving them to higher grounds, and the amount of water that fell the mass quantity that was present within the vineyard did not sustain their diet requirements not enough insect to feast upon, which was why i myself spent countless nights capturing and
[14:04:27] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): relocatin
[14:04:36] zCS # [Mod] Deadstone Carter [RP] logged into the region.
[14:04:49] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): relocating them to reduce the numbers back to a suitable amount. So while you may of seen him as a savior, it is a direct result from my own actions of said inexperience knowledge."
[14:13:33] Theron (sagunn): "Lizards are not omnivores. Feel free to ask animal handler as there are even a few in the city. Point proven." looking to Sextus with his words, "You took the very words right out of my mouth with your own lack of real knowledge. It has nothing to do with a savior, if you refer to the man to your right." motioning back to the forum, "Any other questions that any one might have, feel free to ask them."
[14:10:53] Bashir Hasan (kirtanu) mumbled "were well tended too indeed. When i tried to send the Kennel slaves to help the vineyard i could not find a single soul on the grounds for a month AND a passing hand" he commented on Sextus
[14:21:12] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood) Would turn to look at the drunkard....
"I see, i assume that when i was attempting to visit the kennels in order to acquire about some slaves and my missing slaves at the time, and not a single soul was there except for the now dedicated tavern girl. For much longer than a month and passing hand where were you?"
When he heard he would raise his brow. Since when did he become a lizard expert, it was absolutely false. Traveling enough himself and being around different environments and needing to know things that might cause a threat to him during war or on scouting missions.
"I do not care to stand here and argue a point, if you yourself are not an animal handler, or caretaker of every breed of lizard small or large. You are positioning yourself into a bias position with those statements. Just because i am of the warrior caste do not think me a fool and incapable mind. Had you been able to attend the meeting of the proposal perhaps your opinion on such would be of difference."
Of course that was
[14:21:12] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): the Cosian in him, he would not be slandered nor belittled he had already faced that enough in the first bidding of the vineyard.
He would then turn to Dimitri, "I speak my words with no ill intent towards you, nor doubt of your capabilities. Ultimately the best interest of Selnar is all that matters through this and i stand here with you two."
he said towards both the counters.
"Before all you to take into account what you've seen, what you've heard and make an open minded decision for Selnar and not for personal gains."
[14:25:23] UnformedThought (daricmarano) held up his hand to Sextus. "I take no offense, I quite liked some of your ideas for the vineyard. Though this has turned into a competition between us, regardless of the outcome the best interest of Selnar is what I too seek. Whichever three of us obtain the position, we should certainly trade ideas either way for the city." He offered him with a dip of his chin.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
[14:30:51] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren) held up a hand, "If you all would like to enjoy a cup of wine while myself and Theron deliberate on all that has been discussed this afternoon, we will announce our decision shortly", gesturing for Mindar and Tali both to make the rounds through the crowd.
[14:32:36] UnformedThought (daricmarano) turned to glance back to Lyca, he smiled quietly. "Of course." He supplied back to the council, but he spied his companion come through the door and he offered a smile to her. "Do we have to linger in the middle?" He rumbled with a playful look back to Theron and Lyca.
[14:34:56] Theron (sagunn): "We will not be long Vintner, please remain. All three turn and await our decision please." offering a nod to the man with his question, turning to Lyca as she spoke of their deliberation studying the individual. His fellow council member present, conversing in hushed tones.
[14:36:03] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood) Would let a breath escape his lips in a slow silent release.
"Certainly." he would once again cross his fist to his chest and bow slightly to the merchants above. A slight smirk to Dimitri's comment about lingering. He would then glance around the room mainly towards the Ubar and Ubara.
It really had been some time since he had a proper sit down or conversation with them, besides Lily during the merchants fair, while attending Luna's exhibit. Hearing Theron he would then take his position once again at the furthest left and then picked a spot to stare for now, seemed Ombra's bruised face was the spot which made him raise a brow to her.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
[14:42:45] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren) clears her throat to pull the candidates attention to Theron
[14:43:28] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood) Shifted at the cleared throat to turn and face the two at the top.
[14:45:05] UnformedThought (daricmarano) turned with the clearing of throat. Straightening he would exhale and look to the council.
[14:45:48] K A E L A (yenniferrivia) prepared to document who the new Vintner of Selnar would be, her gaze lingering on the Council of Merchants
[14:52:05] Theron (sagunn): with their conversation, their deliberation coming to an end Lyca and himself stepped forward upon the risen stone platform which lingered above Sextus, Dmitri, Karin. "After hearing the information provided, your plans and goals. The interests of all have been measured and a decision come to." clearing his throat, speaking every word for all to hear. "Dmitri Valente, of the Vinters has been elected to run the Vineyard as Overseer." looking between pair of men before him, "If you two can come to work together, and in doing so bring more to bear in doing so that is a decision that is between you. Between myself and my colleague here." motioning to Lyca, "Unanimously it is felt, a vintner by trade is the better choice. Seconding this, that Sextus has a family cultured in the vine and some knowledge and experience which the first might determine if he so chose to develop a sort of partnership." looking to Karin now with the first two addressed, "Your words of strength and growth, looking to the future are also
[14:52:05] Theron (sagunn): a positive strength any growing economy needs. If there is trade that can be arranged, whether with the city, or her citizens and even the vineyard. Please seek out myself, or the Lady next to me here. And the staff of the vineyard for cultivating not only our fields, our wines but our supply lines." leaning forward so she could hear this last part, covering the left side of his mouth whispering, "And our pockets." adding a bit of Merchant humor in the moment.
[14:57:22] UnformedThought (daricmarano) turned as Theron begun to speak. He inclined his head, hearing the words and the decision, he inclined his head. "I am honored." He offered reverence and turned to the lady to his left. "I would be happy to hear your knowledge further and vital expertise on the vine. If you will share a drink with me at a later time." He smiled to her, before he turned to Sextus. "A worthy opponent, I enjoyed some of your ideas and would be very open to a discussion of partnership in the near future as well." He extended his arm to the warrior at his right.
[14:58:11] ʟɪʟʏ (jizzy.jupiter) was genuinely surprised by the decision since she had not heard of the man at all before the fair. She understood the choice. An actual vintner for the vineyard did seem common sense, but she found it hard to trust those she was less familiar with. With that she stepped forward, "I would like to propose... not demand, of course, that a private conversation occur at a later date to detail what all Sextus could do to ensure a decision in his favor for the future. Since this is his second time proposing and he has continued to show interest and provide help to the vineyard between proposals, i think if he has a true interest in switching castes for the future that this type of conversation could only strengthen the caste for the future." It was clear that the Ubara valued steady loyalty. "That being said, this was a well thought out process and it is good to see it unfold so smoothly. I look forward to what comes from the vineyard."
[14:59:19] ʟɪʟʏ (jizzy.jupiter) adds that she would catch gazes with Kori and give a congratulatory nod to the woman who also had displayed a passion for the place. ((just adding since we posted at the same time!))
[14:58:12] Kori Reynar (korimarano) wasn't a very public person, though for Dimitri, she would show up. Of course, she understood the purpose of these public forums, that they were meant for the people to hear all sides of the matter. That they may understand decisions made and their whys. So that no mistake could be made and words spoken within would have lesser chance to be minced to mislead the people. Bottom line - they were good for communities. When Dimitri's name left Theron's lips, she released a soft breath she'd been unknowingly holding, looking to Tay with a smile to her eyes. That left hand dropped to gently squeeze the girl's shoulder, rocking on the balls of her feet as - yes - she did want to go to him, but she would wait. For now, business must proceed their excitement. Hearing the congratulatory words, she looked to see who spoke and found the image of both the Ubar and the Ubara, her eyes light and a bit misty for this moment. Though - if they looked - they would find a soft respectful bow of her head toward them.
[15:00:23] Karin Klarck (karinklarck): she turns to the winner and smiles from under her veil * Edith had mentioned to me your power and knowledge when it comes to wine and running a winery, and today I had first-hand proof of it, I am honored to have competed with you. ! * then she turns to the grand council * I will come to you soon to discuss a possible long-distance collaboration, thank you for this wonderful opportunity!
[15:01:46] UnformedThought (daricmarano) smiled to Karin. "Absolutely. You honor me. I look forward to discussion of import and export, the next time you visit with us."
[15:03:53] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren) chuckled lightly as she glanced side-eye to Theron, "Always the end goal is it not". She'd turn to the candidates and the Ubar and Ubara, "We sincerely hope that our decision, long deliberated and with opinions sought from throughout the city, is one that all present can honour and support. We desire a caste of unity and cooperation to promote the prosperity of not just the merchants, but all of Selnar's citizens". Looking to Lily as she spoke on Sextus' merits, she would bow her head respectfully, "It is our hope, Ubara, that Sextus may continue to grow his knowledge of not just the vines but our caste under the tutelage of Dimitri, that he can gain as deep an understanding of the politics of the coin as that he holds of the sword. We were impressed by many of his points, yet the presentation of proposing the growing of blackwine beans, among other things have exposed a few gaps in his knowledge, gaps that could cause a wider issue if allowed to foster as a representative in the field of trade". She'd
[15:03:53] Lycaonia (lycaonia.siren): look to teh silver haired man then, a touch of warmth in her gaze, "If you are sincere in your wish to lead the vineyard, Sextus, I myself would step up to act as mentor in what it is to be a successful merchant".
[15:05:33] Kori Reynar (korimarano) was indeed passionate about the vineyard. Probably every bit as much as Dimitri himself. And Tay - she knew that girl loved the place as well. There was no doubt about it. Hearing the Ubara's suggestion, she stepped forward and dipped her head. "I would suggest the first 'event' be just that. A quiet dinner held between ourselves and sir Sextus. Held at the vineyard, if all would agree?" she asked, gesturing for Tay to move with her.
[15:13:49] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood) He deep down knew he would yet again not get the position, it was a simple means of who knew who, what behind the scenes deals were made, while he himself never would bribe any for his position and only work on absolute dedication.
So when the ubara spoke up his head though stoic would turn to listen to what she said. There being appreciation in her words, he was still defeated since it was the second time that he put his all into pursuing this position. It was like a slap in the face, a person who has their own vineyard in other lands get the position over someone who lives and breaths the city and its people.
"Thank you for the kind words my Esteemed Majesty." he would say towards lily.
It would take him some time to of course get over it, since that meant no reason for renting or purchasing certain slaves to help in such tasks.
"As i always said, The whole of our city is what i protect and strive to help in ways that i can, though i may not be as popular or well known to certain people. I will
[15:13:49] Sextus Sentius Placidus (damienzev.underwood): offer my ideas to the victor that was decided for sometime.
Congratulations Dimitri may you show the same care you've shown to your families vineyard and hopefully bring it the full attention it deserves."
He glanced up to Lycaonia.
"After i've had time to process the decision we shall discuss such, i appreciate the offer. And thank you all for your time to listen to this old mans Dream."
he couldn't bring himself to bow for a last time it was just an obvious sore spot.
"Shall something arise and the vineyard once again become under the Ubars care you can most likely guarantee i will be there once again tending and putting in my bidding."
[15:17:00] Theron (sagunn): "Your responses are well cultured, viewed and observed Sextus. The Ubara's words will be heeded by myself as well, if, and when you are ready to have that conversation for working towards your goal." offering a nod of respect to both present. "I wish you both well in that respect."
[15:18:22] ʟɪʟʏ (jizzy.jupiter) did not deem it fit to question their decision, but at this point she had watch the man campaign twice. It was clear where his interests were even if he wore red, "I just drink the wine. I trust the judgments of the council." her veils shifted as she grinned, "I am pleased to know the willingness to help foster his interests." It was uncommon, but not unheard of for someone to switch castes - they lived for centuries after all. She would step down, hearing the offer that Kori made. She was definitely an added perk to Dimitri's proposal with - her help seemed like it would be extremely valuable when it came to creating a more welcoming atmosphere, "I would also like to come by once you are settled in Lady Kori. I would bring my daughters. I understand you are long time cosians so I would like to get to know you." She didnt often associate with the lower castes, but they were now overseeing their vineyards so that elevated them a bit, in her eyes. She could hear the disappointment in Sextus' voice, but
[15:18:22] ʟɪʟʏ (jizzy.jupiter): indeed - this was how the merchant caste worked. There was a reason some thought less of all their wheeling and dealing and networking in order to rise to the top.
[15:20:45] UnformedThought (daricmarano) turned as Kori emerged and he offered her a smile. "Dinner of course. I'd welcome the warrior any time to discuss wine. With his passion for it, I'd happily host." He rumbled veering his eyes to Lyca on her words. "Yes, any insight I can provide of course. In both the merchant's caste and the process of wine making indeed. Of course, at your disposal of course." Dipping his chin, before he would peer back to Lyca and Theron. "I will plan for events and get with you both on stock after I've had time to look at the ledgers and get with you both on import and export, once I have gotten my hands dirty. I am honored by your decision and faith in me. I will not let you down." He dipped his chin and took a step to the side. "Thank you for the forum." He turned hearing the Ubara and he inclined his head. "I would like that and I know my companion would as well. It would help you get to know me and my growing family. Indeed, we will plan for it and design a lovely dinner for all of us. Wine is the perk." He
[15:20:45] UnformedThought (daricmarano): smiled a bit, before he started towards his companion up the stairs.
[15:22:59] K A E L A (yenniferrivia) quietly rose from where she sat, having all the information she needed and gathering her ledger she would dip her head to all those gathered, and those leaving. "Congratulations to all the contestants on a battle well fought, and to the winner as well." She would motion for her Scribe slave to follow her.

HISTORY OF THE SILVER WARS
The Silver Wars
C. A. Tarrant, Scribe of Selnar
________________________________________
Let this document serve as the first in a series of historical studies on military expeditions. The Silver Wars, initiated by the seizure of Tharna and its mines by the allied forces of Tyros and Port Kar occurred in the tenth passage hand of the third month, by most accounts. It was an affair not merely of military posturing or the pride of conquerors, but one of economics, sovereignty, and the redefinition of Gor’s coinage economy. I undertake this study not as a partisan of Tyros, though I once bore the mantle of her regent, but as a historian bound by fidelity to the scrolls and the memory of those who lived and died in the shadow of silver.
________________________________________
Before the descent into conflict, Tharna remained a city of contradictions. A once-matriarchal state known for its rigid governance and masked traditions, its transition from Tatrix-rule to a more male-dominated governance had been slow, painful and, ultimately, incomplete. The mines surrounding the city, rich with high-grade silver ore, had long been a coveted resource. Their output supported not only Tharna's minting but the broader stability of Gorean coinage, especially the silver tarsk.
Port Kar, ever hungry for leverage, and Tyros, rising in political ambition under the Delphis Ubarate, saw an opportunity. Together, they enacted a swift and coordinated campaign under the guise of stabilising the region and “liberating” Tharna from mismanagement and lawlessness. In truth, it was a resource war, carefully disguised in diplomatic scrolls and declarations of honour.
________________________________________
According to firsthand accounts and official dispatches, Tyros forces landed on Tharna’s outskirts by land and sea in coordinated fashion. The naval fleet, bearing the yellow sails of Tyros and the black daggered banners of Port Kar, blockaded the Thassa’s adjacent passages, cutting off outside assistance. Meanwhile, columns of mercenaries and Tyros infantry descended upon Tharna’s inner walls.
The city, already destabilised by internal unrest and the symbolic rule of a former Tatrix now enslaved, fell swiftly. The Tatrix herself, according to the scrolls of Calis, a Tyros War Historian, was made to sit upon the throne as a slave, presiding over her people as a cruel echo of Tharna’s past. It was a calculated theatricality, designed to humiliate and dismantle the final vestiges of Tharnan matriarchy.
The occupation was total. The silver mines were seized. The minting halted. And the shipment of all processed ore was redirected solely to Tyros and Port Kar. The previous pan-Gorean economic system, which depended on neutral distribution of Tharnan silver, was fractured in a matter of days.
________________________________________
The seizure of Tharna did not go unanswered. Cities that had long traded freely with Tharna viewed this occupation as a direct threat to their economic autonomy. In response, federations began to form, one rallying behind Tyros and Port Kar, the other attempting to restore the previous balance. The so-called Ice Alliance, composed of northern cities, was the most prominent among the resistors, using both standard open raids and uncharacteristic shrewd diplomatic manoeuvring to counterbalance Tyros’ supremacy.
Key among the destabilising events was the capture of the Tyros Ubara by Grimwolf Darstone and his outlaw band. It is said they obtained critical intelligence detailing the silver shipment routes, including the use of disguised caravans and Wagon People to evade detection. This, in turn, allowed northern forces to ambush shipments and disrupt the economic flow, at least temporarily.
Nonetheless, Tyros responded by hiring mercenaries to target barter caravans in the north, seeking to choke out any rival economic systems by force and theft. Ambassadors on both sides traversed Gor, bringing cities into their Ubaracy or destabilising neutral ground with whispered promises and veiled threats.
________________________________________
The symbolic enslavement of the Tatrix cannot be overlooked. While it served a military purpose, it also carried weight as a political performance. Gor is a society where power is not merely held but displayed. The humiliation of the Tatrix on her throne was not an afterthought but a statement of Tyros ideology, that the natural order, as conceived by their interpretation of Gorean custom, had been restored.
The flags of Tyros and Port Kar flying side by side over Tharna represented more than a joint victory. They heralded the emergence of a duopoly in Gor’s southern regions, with aspirations not just toward economic control, but cultural reshaping.
________________________________________
Though the initial weeks secured Tyros’ occupation of Tharna, the war had only begun. With silver no longer freely minted and scarcity looming, cities scrambled for alternatives. Barter systems returned in some regions. Counterfeit coins began to emerge elsewhere. The once invisible scaffolding of Gor’s economy was cracking. The promise of stability made by Tyros and Port Kar became increasingly difficult to uphold as resistance stiffened and conspiracies bloomed.
________________________________________
What began as an occupation had become a reordering of Gor’s economic and political map. The Silver Wars were not a mere squabble over coinage but a contest of ideology, legitimacy, and survival. It was a war fought in the mines and the marbled halls alike, on ships as much as in the political forums. What is certain was it had impacted the geopolitics of Gor significantly.

HISTORY OF THE SILVER WARS
A History of the Silver Wars
By Holly Pickles
The coronation of the Tatrix of Tharna was a grand affair. The ubars, tatrixes and Administrators of cities throughout Gor had journied to participate in the festivities. It was, however, more than courtesy that drove them to Tharna. This city, this beautiful city that was so carefully hidden in the mountains, controlled the very blood of Gor. This blood did not run red but silver. The apparent endless flow of silver from these mines made possible the trade that came to every city in Gor. The necessity of barter had been eliminated, making each city able to sell their goods for the precious silver and in turn buy goods they needed to grow their cities. The Tatrix may have been a woman, but she had the real power in Gor.
This power had been used wisely. Throughout her reign to date there had been no wars between tharna and any other city. You may say what you like about the cold, golden masked women that composed her court, but the male population of Tharna, undecimated by war, almost equaled that of the women there. Each man had one woman as his FC, without the necessity of the man taking a slave or two to care for because of the lack of men. Women, not having to compete with other women for the affection of men, were free to develop friendships among each other without worrying about a knife in the back from a sister. The men also received a benefit known only to few in Gor. This was the concept of love, first there was the mad, sexual, passionate love of the young, but then it progressed over the years into the love of companionship known only to the old. Any could walk the streets freely and admire the cavernous public buildings. All had food and a house in which they lay their furs.
Not all in Gor shared this view. Many of the men who made their living by war viewed the Tatrix as weak. Her use of silver as a means of bringing peace as not worthy of a true ruler. For them, only blood on a battlefield showed the strength of a city. A group of these men, all outlaws, decided to kidnap the Tatrix at her coronation.
The Tatrix had provided well for the event. The bakers, butchers, and solversmiths for the entire city and beyond made fortunes by working weeks before the festivities. The parks were pristine. The games in the arena featured the best of the warriors in Gor. The streets and alleys glistened with exhibits of the needlework of the women of Tharna. The caste of singers had scattered to every street corner while the players were playing on tables in the city square.
Finally, it was time for the coronation. All in the city received a silver goblet for the toast to the Tatrix at the end of the ceremony. Immediately before the ceremony the goblets were filled from barrels located in the main square. No one drank of them as, by tradition, the cup was to be drained immediately after the coronation.
Finally, the Tatrix appeared on the stand. All bowed out of courtesy to her. After the formalities of the pledge to the homestone and the songs to the Priest Kings were finished an Initiate handled the coronation. Then the new Tatrix, Fine Razor, turned to the audience, raised her cup and drained the wine.
Those who had eaten little fell first. They, clutching their stomachs began to weave and fall. Others first laughed at them before they themselves fell. At that time panic ensued among those still standing. Women who had drank little began screaming. The guards of visiting ubars lifted their now limp, vomit covered bodies and carried them out of the city. The guards that had not drunk of the wine were carried away in the mass confusion. In a few minutes a phalanx of warriors from the barracks had swept the main square and restored order. Then it was realized… the Tatrix was missing.
Blood Island
Tatrix Fine remembers the coronation well, up to the toast. Then, blackness. She awoke hours, or maybe days later in a cave of total blackness. At first she thought she was in her bed. A feel of the cold mud she was lying on quickly dispelled that. Then she knew, she was a prisoner. Her golden mask gone, her armies now unreachable. She, in one instant, went from the highest office in Tharna to less than a slave. In the darkness she heard the gentle squeak of a door opening, then a voice. “Tatrix, now is the time you become a woman.”
For the next few days she lay shackled to the floor. She was allowed to keep her clothing as they wished not to spoil the merchandise. Otherwise, her life became a living hell. Torture, threats of death and knives held to her throat were used, all to get her to sign one document. This was the document relinquishing all of her mines to her captors. Finally, after days of torture, she signed the document.
After this she was taken outside and a drawing made of her in a cage. An auction was then arranged. This was to be a slave auction, but an auction unlike any other in Gor. Here a tatrix was on the block.
Finally, the day arrived, and the Tatrix was escorted out of her cell and a veil placed on her face. Her purchase had already been arranged. The purchasers were Dark Starr of Port Karr and Theodoric Delphis of Tyros. The Tatrix was then hearded aboard a boat and shipped to Tyros. Here, something happened that even Dark Starr did not anticipate. Fine razor, Tatrix of Fina, was enslaved to the city of Tyros.
After her enslavement Fine was then returned to her throne t serve as a puppet Tatrix, with The collar of Tyros around her wrist. After this Tyros sent in troops to keep order in Tharna. For this “protection” the Tatrix was forced to allow Tyros the mining of the silver of Tharna.
Here is where Galahad Hewit of Tyros takes over. He states that before Tyros took over Tharna was in chaos, with no one controlling the silver trade. Karr and Tyros bought order to the silver trade and prosperity to Tharna. The Tatrix was not satisfied with this and through her machinations sent out silver bars to buy allies for Tharna.
“It was felt throughout the Thassa that tyros and kar were conspiring to control the silver trade..this was supported by the tatrix, who despite here agreements, began shipping silver to rovere, saphronicus and others to gain their loyalty and support.. She pled with others to release her from the oppression of tyros, and yet we brought peace and prosperity to Tharna, and an orderly market place for silver. Yet her machinations succeeded and the dissent grew. Indeed, she did so well the she turned Kar against us, and in turn its allies, fina and saphronicus, and rovere aligned and attacked tyros in the great silver war.
Hopelessly outnumbered and being in the grip of treachery from all sides, we stood as our former allies, Fina, and Port Kar attacked and defeated Tyros on its own shores. Thus ended our dealing in tharna.
Except, me, being a suspicious and mistrustful gorean, had the mines stripped and the silver removed for safe keeping. Tyros still controls the silver, its whereabouts are known only to me. But now, we were faced with a decimated army , a destroyed city and famine, so we capitulated, giving the tharna mines to our enemies. They must have enjoyed digging in the dirt for the scraps we left. Someone once said revenge is a dish best served cold
So now we have the end of the silver wars, and the revelation that our ally, fina, now has chosen to betray its agreements without so much as a diplomatic note
After the peace was declared, I travelled to Fina and spoke to the ambassador. She was shocked. She did not even know of our original agreements. She called in their Ubar who promised me in writing not to attack our city again. Yet they did, but I get ahead of myself.
Now comes our troubles with rovere
[19:52] Calis Cortes spits
[19:53] Galahad Huet: despite our problems with rovere, we continued to honour our agreement to allow them free passage of the thassa and no duties
[19:53] Calis Cortes: forgive me
[19:53] Galahad Huet smiles
[19:53] Galahad Huet: in the spirit of free trade
[19:53] Galahad Huet: enter Treve...
[19:54] Galahad Huet: Treve decided one fine day to mount boats into the Vosk and sail down into the gulf, across the thassa and attack, unprovoked, our Isles. They never gave a reason, but we know that their ubar fears our ubar. Know that he took treve in a coup d'etat, that he was a usurper and he meant to crush Tyros before it could rebuild
They attacked at dawn in force. We had a small garrison here and they simply overwhelmed us, and lo and behold, alongside their warriors were warriors from Rovere. Despite our small numbers and in the face of overwhelming opposition, we battled to a draw, and no victor was declared. In fact we managed to burn all their boats preventing their escape, and they needed to negotiate their way home.
Rovere's presence was..errr...vexing, so we declared a blockade of all their shipping, and when their ships appeared in our waters, we stopped them, boarded them and extracted taxes and duties, but only after I personally went to rovere with a scroll outlining our intentions to do so. Although promised safe passage as a diplomatic delegation, I was attacked, my teeth kicked in and my head smashed on the stones, and jailed. Only a fortuitous attack and the aid of a friend got me out of there unscathed
We received a declaration of war from Rovere and an attack was mounted. Another large scale assault complete with their allies, Treve and.... Fina.
Your finans, again acted the traitor, attacking us in aid of rovere, without so much as a diplomatic note.
Understand this
I hate Treve
I love trevans
I hate rovere
and roverans
as sleens
but Fina
I curse them to the Priest Kings for their dishonour
their treachery
and their arrogance
You have three large city states: treve, and their allies Kar, teletus, rovere, fina, bazi. They as a group have been plying the Vosk and the Voltai, intimidating small cities, towns and camps into denying any aid to Tyros, tiny tyros. Ask yourself why? and if you find an answer, let me know. Individually, they have their reasons, but we are no match for their forces. Yet they spend all their waking hours plotting our destruction. It must be the prowess of the men of Tyros, I don't know.
So what does a small island city do but seek alliances of its own to protect its citizens. Sso we embarked on a long and arduous taks
And now we are part of a large alliance of smaller cities and one or two not so small cities, all who hate rovere, and fina and most who hate treve.
Now the forces are balanced and the final battle will be fought”
Upon hearing this, I asked the Ubar of Fina whether there was indeed a treaty with Tyros, He was busy at the times I asked but did send me this message:
[21:21] Maddog Gadsby: (Saved Sat Sep 06 00:34:09 2008) as far as I remember tyros tried to take the silver mines , I never broke any treaty. never there was a treaty with tyros,Only with the owner of the mines, that is upheld. Tyros is a sore subject
I then spoke to Jake Molerno on the war and received this:
20:01] Holly Pickles: when you have time, what was the battle about? I gather it was trade but what started it? also, who is allied woth Tyros and who with us?
[21:24] Jake Molinaro: COs and Olni were allied to Tyros. Kar, Rovere and FIna on our side
[21:25] Holly Pickles: was any of this about trade??
[21:25] Jake Molinaro: i do not know, we have a alliance document that sais when part a calls for help b goes
[21:26] Holly Pickles: Who called for help??
[21:26] Jake Molinaro: Rovere
[21:29] Holly Pickles: will this mean a continuing war?
[21:29] Jake Molinaro: i do not know to be honest
Gunnitheviking and the beginning of the second war
We have above the beginning and end of the first silver war and the beginning of the second war. While the first war was based strictly on control of Gorean currency, the basis of the second is rather murky. It involved both taxation of trade and, apparently, bitter feelings from the silver war. We begin this narriative with an interview of Gunnitheviking:
[18:48] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: Tal Lady
[18:48] You: Tal
[18:48] You: oh that is a different uniform, it looks nice
[18:49] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: Thanks
[18:49] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: it the uniform of the Tyros Tarnsmen
[18:49] You: its nice
[18:50] You: oh, well the wars of Fina and the rest of Gor deserve a history
[18:51] You: and I understand that you played a part
[18:51] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: isuppose i did
[18:51] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: i once was fond of Fina
[18:51] You: what changed?
[18:52] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: i Wanted to ally with them when i was Admin in Tampica. I fought by their side as a brother many times
[18:52] You: what changed?
[18:53] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: then one day i went to Tyros and found them attacking some of my oldest friends
[18:53] You: what was the cause of the attack?
[18:54] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: I dont know. Before i could find out fina and rovere attacked me, and I joined tyos to fight against them, Particularly my former Brother Tristan. To be honest i had been on such attacks with them in the past but it was mostly against panthers
[18:56] You: so what happened then?
[18:56] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: Tyros then levied trade sanctions against Rovere and that caused Fina to break its trade agreement with Tyros
[18:57] You: why did they do that?
[18:58] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: Tyros levied the sactions because of the orriginal attack i believe
[18:57] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: then i continued my feud with Tristan by giving his girl a make over
[18:58] You: I guess he did not like that
[18:58] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: no not at all
[18:58] You: were you a citizen of Tyros then?
[18:59] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: yes
[18:59] You: how did Fina get involved?
[19:00] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: fina got involved because they are allied with rovere
[19:01] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: plus i believe The Ubar of Fina is the father of the ubara of rovere
[19:01] You: what was the result?
[19:02] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: i believe the official story on the war is that it was caused by the sanctions
[19:02] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: I’ve done my best to get under roveres skin
[19:03] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: i frequently flew my tarn over rovere and allowed it to purge its dinner
[19:04] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: the way the men in rovere cow down to there ubara i tend to believe the war was caused because of what i did to the precious slave
[19:03] You: did Fina ever officially cancel its treaties with Tyros?
[19:03] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: yes
[19:04] You: before or after the attack?
[19:05] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: it was after the attack
[19:05] You: did you see it?
[19:05] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: see what
[19:05] You: the official cancellation?
[19:06] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: i learned of it from our regent, Galahad Huet
[19:06] You: did Fina give any warning that it had Allied with Roviere?
[19:07] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: they had been allied with them for some time
[19:07] You: oh,
[19:08] You: Now let me get this straight
[19:08] You: Fina and Roviere unites in the silver war with tyros, then at the end did Fina sign the treaty with Tyros? treaty of trade
[19:09] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: trade agreement
[19:09] You: so the trade agreement was at the end of the silver wars?
[19:09] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: i would think so
[19:10] You: then Fina and Roviere attacks?
[19:10] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: treaties and things like that is Tristans stuff
[19:10] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: yes
[19:10] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: i mean Galahads stuff
[19:11] You: now that makes sense
[19:11] You: so Tyros would not necessarily know Fina had now allied with Roviere?
[19:12] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: be well
[19:12] You: oh yes, tal
[19:12] You: ok,
[19:12] You: that wraps up several things, esp about the present war
[19:13] You: what about the future? Will tyros retaliate?
[19:13] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: there have been attacks back and forth since
[19:13] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: Tyros has allies as well
[19:14] You: oh
[19:14] You: who are the new allies?
[19:15] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: that m'lady would be giving away stratigic info
[19:15] You: oh
[19:15] You: i understand
[19:15] You: can't blame a reporter for trying
[19:15] Holly Pickles laughs
[19:15] You: ou have helped the story a lot
[19:16] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: the most important thing about this war to me...
[19:16] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: is that a man i would have died to protect shed my blood and now hes dead
[19:16] You: who?
[19:16] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: Tristan
[19:17] You: oh
[19:17] You: I am so sorry to hear
[19:17] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: im not
[19:17] You: that you have had a falling out, that is
[19:17] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: ah
[19:18] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: well its done
[19:18] You: how did he die?
[19:18] Gunnitheviking Gustafson: i killed him. I went to rovere and cut down he and his girl
Rovere
The story now continues from the words of the Ubar of Roviere
”I am Holly from Fina, and am trying to discover more about the battle today
[22:03] Jini Krasner: Tal Lady
[22:03] Korben Larkham chuckles, 'I am Korben, of Rovere, and I am attempting much the same myself.'
[22:04] You: I had heard that Fina was called by Roviere
[22:04] Korben Larkham: Aye-- that is what I have heard as well.
[22:04] You: and it had something to do with trade taxation
[22:05] Korben Larkham: Aye, lady. For many weeks now, our merchant shipping in the Thassan sea has been subject to what Tyros calls 'taxation.'
[22:06] You: what did they collect?
[22:06] Korben Larkham: And-- Men from there have been coming here, and insulting us with their behavior with our slaves as well.
[22:06] You: shocking
[22:08] Korben Larkham: The Men of Fina are fine warriors. And a credit to their caste for the alacrity with which they answer all calls.
[22:08] You: ohhh
[22:09] You: what is the concern about a slave capture?
[22:09] You: in the document
[22:09] Korben Larkham: In and of itself, the capture and loss of a slave is of small matter-- it happens daily in Gor.
[22:10] You: yet it was this that was the excuse for war?
[22:10] Korben Larkham: In this case, however, the slave was horribly mutilated and returned directly to her Master. A calculated insult to Him, and by extension us. I am surprised Tyros chose to escalate to a Casus Belli as they did by seizing shipping. [22:11] Korben Larkham: It is My theory that the matter with the slave was intended to lead Tyros to find reason for piracy and privateering.
[22:12] You: do you think tyros will retaliate?
[22:12] Korben Larkham: All things are possible. Though, retaliation is most likely to come in some sort of asymetrical fashion.
[22:12] Korben Larkham: I do not think they'll be able to hire mercenaries enough to retaliate militarily.
[22:12] You: is the slave in your city?
[22:13] Korben Larkham: She serves one of our Commanders, Tristan Vidor. I do not believe either is presently here.
[22:13] You: perhaps I can get a statement from her when she is here and feeling better
[22:14] You: I hope the healer was able to help her
[22:14] Korben Larkham: I believe it was some weeks past.....
[22:14] Korben Larkham: Doubtless she has made a full recovery.
[22:14] Korben Larkham: Or-- the girl he has now is a new one. *chuckles* I know not, to tell you the truth, she is only a slave.

Appendix
There seems to be a question of whether the City of Fina did have a treaty with Tyros before the Silver wars. The following note was found in the Fina library under "Treaties and trade 7/12/08:
3. Tyros - Trade agreement - nullified after raids
I have also found the treaty, which was in the Fina library and a copy given to me by Galahad of Tyros. Note that the agreement is mainly a trade agrement speaking only little of force. It may be rescended by notice of eathier party:
This is an intented document of Alliance, if agreed sign and send to Galahad Huet, Ambassador of Tyros
The the City of Fina Agrees to enter into a Trade Agreement with the City of Tyros.
Under the terms of this agreement
It is understood that
Fina and Tyros will establish trade routes under the mutual protection of its armed forces.

BENEATH THE KEEPER'S SHADOW - CHAPTER 2
Chapter 2: The Spark Between Them
The storm raged outside, but the tavern had grown warm with the hum of whispered conversations and the soft crackling of the fire. Yet, amidst the subtle glow and the flickering shadows, there was something more—something unspoken. The air itself seemed to vibrate with a charge, a tension that neither the rain nor the warmth of the hearth could dissipate. It swirled around her, tugging at her, drawing her toward him like an invisible force.
She stood at the bar, her fingers curled lightly around the rim of the mug that Silas had set before her. She took a sip, the sweetness of the wine mingling with the heat of the fire and the lingering taste of his words. His presence was still inescapable, saturating the very space between them, threading through the quiet hum of the tavern like an unspoken invitation.
It was impossible to ignore.
His eyes, dark and unfathomable, were fixed on her as he moved with purpose behind the bar. There was a fluidity to his movements, an effortless grace that belied the raw power in his every gesture. She had never been one to be easily swayed—her role as a Scribe, her responsibility to the city, had always anchored her. But tonight, the walls she had so carefully constructed felt as fragile as the candlelight flickering between them.
Every time she caught his gaze, it was like a jolt of electricity. His look was deliberate, never hurried, but always sure. He wasn’t just seeing her—he was claiming her attention, drawing her in slowly, as though testing the waters. A game of dominance, or perhaps something else entirely.
Her breath quickened as she turned her head away, not wanting him to see the flush creeping up her neck. She was torn—so painfully torn—by the desires awakening within her. Desires that had long been buried beneath the weight of duty, of order, of the structured life she had always known. But now, in this dimly lit tavern, those desires were rising, insistent and undeniable.
For a moment, the Scribe who prided herself on her composed demeanor felt as if she were on the verge of losing control. The fine lines between right and wrong, between duty and personal indulgence, seemed to blur in the heat of the moment. She had always been the one who watched from the shadows, who observed others with a measured gaze, analyzing every movement and word. But now, she found herself the subject of his scrutiny, and it sent a tremor through her core that she couldn’t ignore.
Silas stepped closer, his shadow falling over her as he set another glass of wine on the counter. The proximity sent a wave of heat rushing through her, and she fought to keep her breath steady, afraid of betraying her thoughts.
"You don’t have to speak," he murmured, his voice like velvet, dark and intoxicating. "I can see it in your eyes."
Her heart skipped at his words, and she almost forgot to breathe. There was no denying it now. The pull between them was undeniable. His words were not a question—they were an acknowledgment of the silent tension that had been building ever since she’d entered the tavern.
"I—" She began, but her voice faltered. She wasn’t used to this kind of vulnerability. She wasn’t used to wanting anything outside of the structured life she had carefully cultivated. But Silas... He made her feel as if every rule she had lived by, every line she had drawn, was meaningless in the face of this unspoken connection.
"You don’t need to explain," he interrupted, his lips curling with a knowing smirk, his thumb brushing over the rim of the glass as he leaned in closer. "I know what you want. What you’ve been wanting for a long time."
Her pulse raced at his words. He was too perceptive, too in tune with something she didn’t even fully understand. He saw the hunger in her, the longing she had kept hidden, buried beneath layers of propriety and obligation. It was terrifying, and yet, it was freeing in a way she hadn’t imagined.
Her thoughts swirled. The Scribe who had always prided herself on her control—on her knowledge—was now tempted by something unknown. Something dangerous. She could feel it in the way her breath hitched when he stood so close, in the way his very presence seemed to fill the room. She had known men before, of course. She had known their touches, their kisses. But none had ever made her feel like this.
None had ever made her question herself so completely.
She closed her eyes briefly, allowing herself a fleeting moment of weakness. She hadn’t asked for this, hadn’t come here with the intention of letting him unravel her. But Silas... Silas had a way of making her want to discover what it would be like to live without the confines of her station, without the weight of her responsibilities.
The possibilities swirled in her mind—no longer the dutiful Scribe, no longer the woman defined by rules and expectations, but something else entirely. Something free.
And it terrified her.
But the spark in her chest, the heat between them, was impossible to ignore. As she opened her eyes, she met his gaze, and for the briefest of moments, she saw it—the glimmer of something deeper, something dangerous that called to her.
"You know," Silas whispered, his breath hot against her ear, "you don’t have to be bound by anything. Not here. Not with me."
The words sank into her like a secret, a promise. And for the first time in her life, she wasn’t sure if she was afraid to accept it... or if she was already too far gone to turn back.
Her heart raced. She reached out to grasp the glass of wine he had poured, her fingers brushing against his, the electric current surging between them. She didn’t speak, but her actions did. The wine was no longer her only focus—he was.
"Maybe..." she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper, "maybe I don’t want to turn back."
Silas’ smile deepened, and in his eyes, she saw the promise of something beyond the storm. Beyond the city’s walls. And in that moment, she wondered if it was the storm that would consume her—or if it would be him.

RUMORS CLARIFIED: THE DEVLIN LEGACY ENDURES
Rumors Clarified: The Devlin Legacy Endures
Recent murmurs within the markets and along the wharves have speculated upon the absence of Eion Devlin from our fair city. We are pleased to set the record straight: while it is true that the Former Chief Exporter Devlin has departed for a time, his absence is solely in the service of official family business - no hint of scandal or ill fortune clouds his journey. Indeed, the Devlin family, proprietors of the esteemed Golden Ost Trading Company, stand in full vigor and prosperity.
Their recent triumph at the Merchant’s Fair is testament to such strength. The Golden Ost not only secured profitable ventures, but also delighted the populace and honored the Warrior Caste through the spirited sword tournament hosted personally by Lukas Devlin. The skill and pageantry of the bouts drew merchants, free citizens, and warriors alike to the sand, where competition flourished under the Devlin banner.
In a display of generosity befitting a house of such standing, the Devlins concluded the day’s contests with a celebratory feast: a roasted tarsk of impressive size, and two full kegs of paga, gifted in good will to the warriors whose vigilance safeguards our walls and trade. Such gestures remind us that true strength is not merely measured in coin or steel, but in the bonds between castes, forged by respect and gratitude.
As Eion Devlin conducts his ventures abroad, the Golden Ost Trading Company continues to thrive here at home, its sails full, its coffers sound, and its reputation burnished anew. The Devlin name and its trading company endures, and with it, the prosperity of those who stand within its shadow.

GOREAN ASTROLOGY, ED6
🌕 Gorean Celestial Report
Month of Camerius, 10175 C.A.
As interpreted by the Celestial Scribes beneath the twin moons of Gor
🔥 OVERALL CLIMATE:
The Second Moon begins Camerius at half-light, growing steadily toward fullness, stirring emotions and bringing hidden matters into plain sight. The First Moon wanes early, urging a brief pause before swift action. This is a month of bold moves, unveiled truths, and shifting power plays, especially within caste councils and merchant circles.
🔱 Caste-Specific Celestial Guidance
🜂 Red Caste (Warriors, Guards, Ubars)
Theme: Lines Drawn, Loyalties Tested
Your ruling star burns hot in Camerius, heightening both courage and conflict. Border disputes, honor duels, or unexpected military orders may arise. The greatest challenge will be discerning when to draw steel and when to sheath it.
Celestial Warning: An offer of alliance may mask a subtle bid for control.
Forecast: Fight when needed, but remember—victory without strategy is just another battle waiting to happen.
🜁 Blue Caste (Scribes, Magistrates, Record-Keepers)
Theme: Law as Weapon, Truth as Shield
This month favors your mind and your ink. Legal disputes and archival investigations intensify, and your ability to recall details others have overlooked will prove decisive. Expect to be drawn into matters where your neutrality is… inconvenient.
Celestial Clue: A missing scroll or ledger entry will change the course of an argument—if you find it first.
Forecast: Your words may hold more sway than a sword this month. Use them wisely, for the echo will be long.
🜃 Green Caste (Physicians, Healers, Herbalists)
Theme: Recovery and Revelation
The city still bears storm-scars, and so do its people. An unusual ailment or injury pattern will emerge—traced not to illness, but to politics. Your services will be in demand, but tread carefully: some patients carry more danger than wounds.
Celestial Hint: A treatment discovered in haste may become your most prized remedy.
Forecast: Tend to others, but guard your own reserves. This month tests endurance as much as skill.
🜏 Yellow Caste (Builders, Engineers, Artisans)
Theme: Innovation Under Pressure
Heat and ambition bring a surge in building requests—some urgent, some suspiciously timed. You may be asked to construct under impossible deadlines or for purposes not fully revealed.
Celestial Warning: A flaw in a foundation—physical or political—will surface by month’s end.
Forecast: Camerius rewards precision and punishes haste. Build with care, even if it means saying “no” to the powerful.
🝞 White Caste (Initiates, Temple Servants)
Theme: Omen in the Heat
Reports of strange celestial alignments will ripple through temple halls. An interpretation dispute among the robes could divide opinion on divine will. Your challenge will be to preserve unity while seeking truth.
Prophecy Fragment: “Two moons in the day sky—one whole, one broken.”
Forecast: Camerius brings signs to those patient enough to see them. Watch the skies during midday prayers.
💰 Merchant & Lower Castes (Traders, Bakers, Peasants, Slavers, etc.)
Theme: Gold in the Gaps
Trade routes disrupted by storms are opening again, but with unpredictable pricing and availability. This chaos is ripe for clever hands—yet also attracts thieves, swindlers, and false friends.
Market Gossip: A shipment of rare goods is due before the month’s end, but the manifest may have been altered.
Forecast: Profits are possible if you keep one eye on the scales and the other on your rivals.
🌙 Twin Moon Influence on Camerius
First Week: Quiet assessments—alliances formed in private.
Second Week: Mid-moon surge in ambition; public challenges may arise.
Third Week: The full moon lights what was hidden—scandals and secrets surface.
Final Days: Strategic repositioning; those who kept calm early in the month will claim the advantage.
💫 FINAL OMENS FOR CAMERIUS:
A kajira’s overheard conversation will spark a council debate.
A misfiled legal document will shift the balance of a trial.
A merchant’s sudden generosity will prove to have hidden costs.

GOREAN STOCKMARKET, ED6
Gorean Stockmarket Report – Week of August 11, 2025
Post-War Recovery and Market Stabilization
🏛️ Overall Trade Health:
With the war with Port Kar now officially concluded, the city of Selnar is experiencing a cautious but hopeful recovery. The immediate effects of the conflict—disrupted supply chains, increased military spending, and heightened security—are subsiding, allowing many sectors to stabilize. While rebuilding efforts continue, there is optimism in the air as traders expect a steady return to pre-war trading conditions. However, the market remains watchful, as unforeseen political and economic ripple effects from the war may surface in the coming months.
⚙️ Iron & Steel: Rebuilding Surge
The Iron & Steel sector is surging, fueled by the immediate demand for construction and weaponry as Selnar begins to rebuild from the aftermath of the war. The destruction caused by the conflict has increased the demand for fortifications, infrastructure repairs, and defensive materials. Though the supply chain is still recovering from the strain of wartime production, Iron & Steel prices remain elevated, with further growth expected. Traders are optimistic, but there are potential risks as some suppliers still grapple with labor shortages.
🛒 Commodities & Goods: A Market in Transition
The Commodities & Goods market is in a state of transition, shifting from wartime scarcity to peacetime stability. The immediate disruptions caused by military blockades are easing, and with the end of the war, imports and exports are gradually returning to normal. Grain prices are expected to stabilize, but food commodities like dried meats and grain will remain slightly inflated as supply chains work to catch up. Luxury goods, particularly textiles and spices, are beginning to flow more freely, but some areas still face delays.
🐄 Livestock & Transport: Recovering Post-War
The Livestock and Transport sectors are beginning to recover from the strain of wartime demands. While livestock prices remain higher than usual due to the loss of herds during the war and subsequent transport delays, the supply of pack animals and draft animals is gradually increasing. The transport sector is also stabilizing, though some routes remain disrupted as infrastructure is repaired. Long-term recovery for both sectors is expected, but there may still be some short-term volatility in prices as the market adjusts to the end of the conflict.
🧑🤝🧑 Slave Market Index: Mixed Signals
The Slave Market has shown mixed signs in the wake of the war. While the need for laborers in rebuilding efforts remains high, particularly for those skilled in construction and craftwork, the market for pleasure slaves remains somewhat stagnated. Buyers are cautious, with many speculating about potential legal reforms in the wake of the war’s end. This uncertainty is leading to fluctuations in prices. However, as reconstruction picks up pace, the demand for laborers will likely push the market toward recovery, especially for skilled slaves.
🏹 Caste-Specific Market Mood:
Warrior Caste: The mood among the Warrior Caste is highly positive, with the end of the war bringing a sense of victory and renewed purpose. Many warriors are transitioning from military service to new roles in security or construction projects. The demand for weapons and defensive materials remains strong, though there is a growing interest in training and recruitment for future security roles in Selnar’s rebuilding efforts.
Merchant Caste: Merchants are cautiously optimistic, with the end of the war opening up trade routes and restoring market stability. However, there are lingering concerns over trade agreements and the shifting political landscape. For now, luxury goods are seeing a steady uptick in demand, while merchants dealing in raw goods are still navigating the aftermath of wartime price fluctuations.
Builder Caste: The Builder Caste is thriving in the post-war environment, with the city’s reconstruction creating a surge in demand for skilled labor and raw materials. Builders are optimistic, though they are cautious about labor shortages and the ongoing availability of necessary supplies. The next few months will likely see a boom in construction projects, but builders will need to adapt to shifting supply chains.
Free Women’s Caste: The Free Women’s Caste is transitioning from wartime apprehension to post-war recovery. Many Free Women have been actively involved in both humanitarian efforts and reconstruction work. However, there are underlying concerns about safety and social stability, as many women are now seeking to secure their futures through strategic alliances and resource management. The mood is one of cautious optimism, but there remains an air of uncertainty as the city moves forward.
Scribe Caste: The Scribe Caste has experienced a surge in demand as the city’s legal and bureaucratic systems adjust to the post-war era. With numerous contracts to draft and legal matters to settle, scribes are working overtime to manage the influx of paperwork related to war reparations, reconstruction projects, and the return to peacetime governance. Their mood is one of busyness, with an underlying sense of satisfaction as their work remains essential to the city’s recovery.
🗣️ Market Gossip & Forecasts:
There is increasing speculation about a major political shift as the Ubar and Council of Selnar consider new governance strategies in light of the war's end. Some believe that certain castes are positioning themselves for more influence over decision-making, particularly in areas of defense and trade regulation.
A rumored new alliance between the Warrior Caste and certain merchant factions could lead to shifts in power dynamics, potentially affecting pricing and control over vital trade routes. Some fear this alliance may lead to monopolistic practices, driving prices higher.
There is also gossip about the return of an influential merchant family, rumored to be behind the establishment of new trade routes to neighboring cities, which would revitalize Selnar's international commerce and restore some of the prestige lost during the war.
🔮 Next Month’s Hot Speculation:
Livestock & Transport: As transport routes open up and infrastructure improves, the livestock sector is expected to stabilize. However, some sectors, particularly those focused on exotic animals, may experience price fluctuations as demand increases in the coming months.
Iron & Steel: The demand for construction materials and military-grade materials is expected to continue in the coming month, particularly as rebuilding projects and fortifications ramp up. Iron & Steel remains a strong sector for investment, though some supply chain issues may persist as production catches up.
Slave Market: The Slave Market is expected to see increased demand for skilled laborers, particularly in construction and restoration work. The potential for future regulation changes means that the market could fluctuate, but labor needs are projected to remain high for the foreseeable future.
Closing Note: The conclusion of the war has ushered in a period of rebuilding and optimism, though the market remains cautious as the city of Selnar adjusts to the new post-war reality. While many sectors are poised for recovery, the coming months will reveal how effectively the economy can stabilize and grow after such a tumultuous period. Investors are advised to keep a watchful eye on political developments, trade relations, and shifting caste power dynamics to ensure the best strategies for navigating the evolving market landscape.

The Mysterious Disappearance of Silas Karn:
What Has Happened to the Infamous Tavern Keeper?
Selnar is abuzz with whispers, questions, and rumors about the whereabouts of the notorious tavern keeper, Silas Karn. Once the beloved yet enigmatic proprietor of the city's famed tavern, Silas has seemingly vanished, and no one seems to know why or where he has gone. Word has begun to spread that the tavern might now be under new management, but no official word has come forth from any reliable sources. What could have happened to the man who once commanded the heart of the tavern’s bustling crowd?
Silas Karn, whose name became famous after his wrongful imprisonment and the subsequent interview he gave to The Kraken Krier, was once a central figure in Selnar's social scene. His tavern, known for its rowdy atmosphere and the captivating mystery of its owner, was the place to be for anyone seeking gossip, adventure, or just a hearty drink. Karn's charm, however, was more than just his tavern—it was his story. After being unjustly imprisoned, Silas became a symbol of resilience, and his tale of survival against the odds captivated the city.
In fact, his popularity soared to such heights that an anonymous author has taken to submitting ongoing chapters to the Krier. The story, filled with intrigue and erotic suspense, has been well-received by readers, who eagerly await each new installment. Yet, with Karn now missing from his tavern, the question arises: Is this story drawing closer to a conclusion? And if so, what does it mean for the man behind the myth?
As Selnar waits for answers, one thing remains certain—the mystery of Silas Karn is far from over. Whether he has chosen to disappear from the public eye or if something more sinister is afoot, the city is left to wonder: Where is Silas Karn, and what fate has befallen the infamous tavern keeper who once captivated us all?

🎭 The Mysterious Mastermind Behind the Half-Souls Theater Company: Johnny Stow
By Lady Kaela Priscus Altius
In the heart of Selnar’s bustling theater district, there exists a man whose very name sends ripples through the elite circles of society and entertains the common folk with equal measure of intrigue and shock. Johnny Stow, the enigmatic leader of the Half-Souls Theater Company, has captured the city’s attention with his controversial plays, daring performances, and a persona as cryptic as the stories he tells. But what lies behind the legend of the so-called "Disco Barbarian" and "Tequila Inferno"?
Johnny Stow's theatrical journey began far from the city’s marble halls and glittering stages. "I was in the theater back in the far-off lands," Stow confided during a rare interview. "I am after all the Disco Barbarian." His words, though cryptic, reveal a rich history in the dramatic arts, though none can say for certain what exactly "Disco" and "Tequila" refer to. When pressed about his early days, he only smiles and adds, “I was just trying to get the attention of a lady at first, but now I do it because it’s fun—messing with people. That’s as deep as it gets.”
Fun, indeed, it seems to be for the Half-Souls Theater Company, a troupe whose performances have grown infamous for their controversial and often shocking content. The company, composed of Stow’s own brand of "half-souls"—his term for his actors—has gained a reputation for pushing boundaries. "We are nobody's business. No slaves, no frees. Just souls on a stage," Stow declares, hinting at a philosophy of art that transcends societal constructs. Their performances, often exploring themes of darkness, deception, and self-destruction, have captivated audiences both in Selnar and beyond.
But it’s not just the plays that keep the public talking. It’s Stow’s own persona that has earned him as much attention as the shows themselves. His wild energy, mysterious charisma, and blunt attitude have earned him the title of "Tequila Inferno," but his refusal to be anything but himself is what truly sets him apart. “I’m free,” he says with a smirk. “Free to do whatever I want. Free to drink myself to death. Free to be miserable. Feel that freedom, Funky-Baby? Oh yeah. You feel it every morning.”
Despite his controversial nature, Stow is not without his own depth. His commitment to his craft is evident in the intensity with which he speaks of it, as well as his willingness to expose the truths others shy away from. “I’m here to reveal the true truths,” he explains, his gaze darkening. “The Ubar and Initiates are just as human as anyone else. They lie, cheat, gamble. But I can’t stand trickery. If we’re all deceived, then our hands are no longer tied.”
As the Half-Souls Theater continues to stir the city with each new production, the question remains: is Johnny Stow an artist, an instigator, or a little bit of both? His latest play, which has stirred whispers of rebellion in high circles, promises to be no less than a game-changer. When asked about his intentions, Stow responds cryptically, "War was always here, before man was. The ultimate game waiting for its ultimate player."
Perhaps that is the key to understanding the mind of Johnny Stow: he views life, and art, as a game—a game where the stakes are high, the consequences are unpredictable, and the players are all too willing to push boundaries to see what happens next.
For now, Selnar waits with bated breath for the next production, knowing full well that when Johnny Stow is involved, nothing is ever quite as it seems. And whether you love him or hate him, there’s no denying that his plays—and his presence—will continue to make waves in this city for years to come.
The Half-Souls Theater Company is set to premiere its latest production next week at the Grand Forum in Selnar. Tickets are already in high demand, though some may question whether the city is truly ready for what comes next from Johnny Stow and his troupe of "half-souls."

⚓ Physician:
Exciting news from the Physician Caste! We are thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of a new clinic, which is currently in the final stages of preparation. This new addition will provide enhanced access to medical care, particularly for those in need of animal-related treatments or emergency care. Lady Valeria, a respected and skilled member of our Caste, has been promoted to Senior Physician and will be leading this new Animal Clinic. Her expertise will ensure that both animals and their owners receive the highest quality care. The official opening event for the clinic will take place in front of the Infirmary, and we will announce the exact date and time as soon as preparations are complete. Be sure to stay tuned for updates via the city criers.
The Physician Caste is also still seeking infirmary slaves to assist with various duties. As a reminder, any slaves interested in this position must obtain written permission from their owner before applying.
In addition, we are on the lookout for a Scribe Clerk who can assist in the Infirmary with billing, invoices, and paperwork. If you are interested in this role or know someone who is, please contact us.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to expand and enhance the services of the Physician Caste!

These homes offer safety, comfort, and resilience against future challenges.
In addition to the ongoing restoration of the villas, the Builder Caste is conducting continued checks on all buildings throughout the city to ensure that the structural integrity of every home and establishment is intact. These inspections are a crucial part of maintaining the safety of our citizens, and we encourage anyone who feels their property may need further attention to contact the Builder Caste for an evaluation.

The House of Angiunus Pleasure Gardens brings a new level of luxury and relaxation, while Bashir's Trading Company: Original Tahari Wares & Slaves offers a fresh selection of rare goods and exotic services, expanding our city's trade horizons.
However, it is with a heavy heart that we must mourn the loss of the Serendipity Tea Shoppe, a beloved establishment that will be missed by many. Its absence leaves a void in the city's social life, and we extend our condolences to all who were touched by its presence.
As always, the Merchant Caste remains dedicated to fostering prosperity and growth in Selnar, and we look forward to the continued expansion of our trade network and the welcoming of more enterprises into our thriving city.

➤ Last week's rankings based on reader voting:
1st: Contestant #2
2nd: Contestant #6
3rd: Contestant #3
4th: Contestant #1
5th: Contestant #4
6th Contestant #7
➤ Due to rule breaking, Contestant #8 has been disqualified. Also, Contestant #5 has withdrew due to a probably courtship!
➤ The Final Gesture: A Token of Intent
Each contestant must present the bachelor with a personal token that reflects their sincerity, creativity, and desire to know him beyond the surface. This token can be crafted, written, or performed — but it must speak to who he is and why they wish to be part of his life.
Examples of acceptable tokens:
A handwritten letter revealing something they have not yet told him during the competition — a secret hope, a shared dream, or an observation about him that shows they’ve been paying attention.
A small crafted item (painted stone, carved trinket, embroidered handkerchief) that symbolizes their connection.
A short, spoken or performed piece — a poem, song, or story that ties back to a moment they shared with the bachelor.
These tokens will be submitted through the Krier to the bachelor. No other contestants will see the gestures — and the bachelor will have to decide, based on these final offerings, who has truly opened their heart.
This will not be judged on grandness of gesture, but on authenticity, thoughtfulness, and depth of sentiment.
Stay tuned, the competition is about to come to a close!!

❖ This Week's Whisperings -Fresh from the Vine: Rumors Ready to Ripen ❖
My Dearest Readers,
It is with a heavy heart that I bring forth troubling news regarding our new Head of Caste nominee, Cornelius Aloysius Tarrant, who has sadly proven himself rather misaligned with the spirit of Kajuralia.
Instead of embracing the jovial, harmless pranks that come with the season’s mischief, Cornelius has taken a most disturbing stance. Witnesses report that just last night, he was observed beating one of the slaves, who had come forward to offer an apology for the... shall we say, creative disarray in the library. The poor soul, presumably seeking to quell the wrath of the new Head of Caste, was struck about the body in a display wholly unnecessary for what can only be described as a series of harmless pranks: flour scattered on the floor, a few errant amphibians hopping about, and footprints leading in playful, erratic patterns.
Kajuralia, as we all know, is a time when even the most Free among us are expected to turn a blind eye to such minor mischief—after all, it is tradition! Yet, instead of indulging in the spirit of the festival, Cornelius has chosen to seek recompense, demanding monetary restitution from the slave’s owners for the “damages” incurred: a bit of spilled flour and a few tiny amphibians—hardly the stuff of real destruction.
How disappointing it is that our new Head of Caste has chosen such a heavy-handed approach, casting aside the light-hearted nature of Kajuralia in favor of an overzealous pursuit of petty retribution. One can only wonder if this is a glimpse of things to come under his leadership.
I urge the Free of our esteemed Scribe Caste to reflect on this as we move forward, for if such small matters can provoke such an excessive reaction, how might Cornelius handle the weightier issues that lie ahead?
Yours in a most disappointed concern,
Lady Whispervine

My Dearest Readers,
Shelby Boseman, that ever-mysterious merchant of our city, has returned from her trip to Venna—and it seems the secrets she’s been harboring may be more than just business related. On Sunday afternoon, as she disembarked her ship, she was seen with a rather unexpected bundle in a sling across her chest.
Yes, you heard correctly—a bundle.
The question on everyone’s lips: Who's the father? Did Shelby leave for Venna simply to indulge in gambling, or was there something far more personal behind her sudden departure? After all, she is companioned to none other than Tribune Bryan Kobaleinen, a warrior of considerable influence—was the child conceived before her departure, or did this journey involve more than a simple escape from her responsibilities in Selnar?
One cannot help but wonder: Is this a tale of unexpected motherhood from the woman we least expected to harbor such tenderness? Shelby Boseman, so often seen as a calculating merchant, a master of deals and schemes—could she truly be a mother now?
Was this all part of a plan, or has the great Shelby Boseman, it seems, found herself caught in the web of her own emotions? Time, as always, will reveal the truth, but we can be certain this mystery will continue to stir the pot of intrigue within our city.
Yours in tantalizing curiosity,
Lady Whispervine
*:-.,_,.-:*'´ `*.¸.*´`'*:-.,_,.-:*
My Dearest Readers,
A most shocking and perplexing incident has unfolded within the walls of the Scribe Hall, one that has left many in the city reeling in disbelief. Former Magistrate Legion Dryden—now fallen from his former grace—has leveled accusations of an unspeakable nature towards none other than the Assistant Head of Caste for the Scribes, Lady Kaela Priscus Altius.
Details of the exchange remain sketchy, as sources struggle to make sense of the words spoken in anger, but it appears that Dryden’s outbursts were nothing short of alarming. He was quick to hurl his accusations in public, much to the shock of those present. Fortunately, a quick-thinking figure came to Lady Kaela’s defense: the new Rarius Magistrate, Acadius Balonius Scipio. Reports from witnesses suggest that Magistrate Scipio wasted no time in intervening, berating Dryden for his untimely and inappropriate behavior.
It is said that Lady Kaela, a woman known for her grace and impeccable demeanor, has every legal right to press charges against Dryden for the insult to her honor. After all, what is more sacred to a Scribe than their reputation? However, whispers indicate that the lady has little interest in indulging the city's gossip machine or turning her dispute into yet another scandalous public spectacle. Those close to her have hinted that Lady Kaela seeks a more private form of recompense, one that would maintain her dignity and protect her from further shame.
What form that recompense will take remains to be seen. Will Dryden find himself dealing with the consequences of his actions, or will the matter be settled quietly behind closed doors? Only time will tell, but for now, it seems Lady Kaela has little patience for the petty squabbles of disgraced former officials.
Yours in growing intrigue,
Lady Whispervine

My Dearest Readers,
It seems that the once frequent reports of the Quartermaster and our Assistant Head of Caste crossing paths have suddenly ceased—coincidentally, of course, with the formal courtship of Lady Kaela Priscus Altius by none other than the ever-stoic Captain Pertinax Adrastus. The former Praetor’s intentions are clear, and it appears he has firmly claimed the quill for his own.
Now, the question that looms over this new pairing is one that many of us are eagerly awaiting to see unfold: How will the Quartermaster react to the woman he so clearly once held a fondness for now being courted—publicly, no less—by a man of such high rank and presence?
Perhaps it’s a matter of pride, perhaps of old wounds; one can only imagine how the Quartermaster might be feeling, watching this unfolding drama from the sidelines. And what of Lady Kaela, who was once the object of such attention from the Quartermaster himself? Has she truly chosen the Captain, or is there something more to this match than meets the eye?
We shall, of course, keep you updated as this intriguing tale continues to unfold—perhaps with a look at the Quartermaster’s thoughts on the matter. After all, what man would want to lose his woman to another so quickly?
Yours in sweet anticipation,
Lady Whispervine

My Dearest Readers,
As the city begins to rebuild from the devastation caused by the recent hurricane-like gale, there are whispers of how the storm has brought many together in ways one might not expect. While most debts are measured in coin, there are those whose transactions are far more... personal.
It is said that a certain high-caste widow, whose home was among the first to be repaired in record time, may have paid her carpenter in a manner other than gold. Sources close to the matter hint at a rather intimate exchange between the two, raising the question: was this simply a grateful gesture for the swift and expert work, or is it the beginning of something far less platonic?
One can only wonder: Is this widow merely repaying a favor, or has she found herself entangled in a different kind of arrangement altogether?
The nature of such things can be so easily misinterpreted, but in times like these, when the city is still recovering, who can say what a moment of gratitude may lead to? I daresay we’ll be keeping a very close eye on this budding—or perhaps already blossomed—affair.
Yours in speculation,
Lady Whispervine
*:-.,_,.-:*'´ `*.¸.*´`'*:-.,_,.-:*
My Dearest Readers,
A shadow seems to have fallen over the Merchant Caste Hall, and though the details are still cloaked in secrecy, the air is thick with whispers of something far more sinister than mere trade deals and negotiations.
Rumor has it that a hooded informant, shrouded in mystery, passed on some highly sensitive information to one of our very own investigative journalists at the Kraken Krier. What was revealed, however, is far too dangerous to be laid bare just yet. Suffice it to say, the implications are enough to send a chill through even the most hardened merchant.
What does this mean for the Merchant Caste? Is there something dark at play behind their gilded halls? Some have hinted that the information could be tied to the long-ago fall of Imperial Ar—a tragedy that still echoes through the streets of all of Gor. Could it be that secrets, long buried beneath the weight of time, are now being unearthed?
While many remain cautious and tight-lipped, there are those who feel a gathering storm on the horizon. The weight of this newfound knowledge could unravel more than a few reputations—and not just in the Merchant Caste.
One thing is certain: Something is brewing, and the Krier’s investigative eyes will be watching closely.
Yours in wary anticipation,
Lady Whispervine
*:-.,_,.-:*'´ `*.¸.*´`'*:-.,_,.-:*
So, dearest readers, as the city teeters between propriety and passion, remember: nothing stays buried forever—except, perhaps, a few reputations.

~ Where curiosity dares, and modesty flees ~
Mistress Whispervine,
“My Mistress has taken to calling me her ‘shadow’… yet she no longer allows me to kneel at her side in public. Does this mean I have fallen from her favor?”
Darling Shadow, if you have truly fallen from favor, she would not keep you close enough to cast shade. Perhaps she is saving your devotion for a more private stage—one where shadows can act without the glare of society’s eyes.

Dear Lady Whispervine:
“A woman of high station smiles at me each time we cross paths, yet speaks only in clipped courtesies. Is her interest real, or am I a fool?”
Good sir, a woman who smiles without reason is either hiding mischief or concealing affection. My advice? Offer her a reason to speak at length—preferably somewhere the walls do not echo.
❖ ────── ✧ ────── ❖
Dear Lady Whispervine:
“Another lady keeps ‘accidentally’ wearing the same gown as I do to every function. Should I confront her?”
My dear, she is not copying you—she is competing. Instead of confrontation, elevate your fashion beyond her reach. Arrive in something she could never wear without scandal.
With ink and quill,
Lady Whispervine

⚓ The Veiled Vogue: The Essential Role of Modesty Layers in the Attire of a Free Woman
In the opulent world of Selnar, where high-caste status is as carefully crafted as the fine silks draped across one's form, modesty remains a cornerstone of the Free Woman's attire. While the city of Selnar is renowned for its grandeur and elegance, the fashion of its Free Women speaks to far more than mere aesthetic pleasure—it is a statement of authority, respect, and an embodiment of their position in society.
At the heart of this sartorial elegance lies the concept of modesty layers. These garments, often unseen yet essential, form a vital foundation beneath the more elaborate outerwear. While the intricate veils, flowing gowns, and precious adornments might steal the eye, it is the quiet dignity of modesty layers that define a Free Woman's true attire.
❖ The Silent Significance of Modesty Layers
Modesty layers are not simply a practical consideration. In the cultural landscape of Gor, they carry deep symbolic meaning. These garments, whether crafted from light linen, soft wool, or sumptuous silks, serve as both a shield and a symbol. They protect the sanctity of the Free Woman’s body, ensuring that no unworthy gaze may infringe upon her dignity.
Consider the art of layering in fashion—an expressive means of crafting personal style while honoring tradition. The modesty layers beneath the sumptuous outer robes are an expression of control and restraint. These garments are designed not to reveal, but to protect. They are the foundation of her dress, ensuring that the form beneath is veiled and unapproachable unless she chooses to make it known.
❖ A Layered Approach to Respect
The importance of modesty in the attire of the Free Woman is undeniable. It serves as an armor against the unwanted attentions of those who would seek to strip her of her dignity. But beyond protection, modesty layers reflect a deeper cultural value: that of respect. The Free Woman’s attire is an invitation, not an open display. It reflects a carefully measured balance between elegance and restraint, modesty and allure.
In Selnar, as with other cities of the Empire, Free Women of all ranks choose the number and type of modesty layers that best suit their social standing and personal preference. From simple, delicate shifts of cotton to more intricate layers of silk, the materials chosen communicate much about the wearer's caste, wealth, and values. For the wealthiest of Free Women, these layers may be adorned with delicate embroidery or jewels, symbolizing their family’s lineage and status. For those of more humble means, the layers may remain simple but no less significant.
❖ The Aesthetic Harmony of Modesty
Even in modesty, there is room for beauty. The layers, while often unseen, form part of the larger aesthetic of the Free Woman’s attire. A rich, deep-toned silk undergown, for instance, may peek from beneath a draped gown of gauzy fabric, its intricate hem and soft sheen adding to the overall grace of her ensemble. The subtlety of the modesty layers, when chosen with care, enhances rather than detracts from the beauty of the outerwear. In this quiet elegance, a Free Woman’s modesty is never overshadowed but rather, it shines through.
❖ Conclusion
The modesty layers worn by the Free Women of Gor are far more than mere undergarments. They are a quiet yet powerful statement of dignity, respect, and personal sovereignty. Beneath the veils and gowns of the city's elite lies a rich history of garments that reflect the deepest values of Gor’s society: a commitment to restraint, to dignity, and to the sacred role of the Free Woman.
As the trends of the world change, it remains clear that modesty—represented in these foundational layers—will continue to play a central role in the expression of freedom, status, and elegance for generations to come.

➤ Citizens of Selnar, Honored Guests, and Esteemed Members of the Castes,
What a spectacle it was!
Our recent “Kajira as Her Favorite Free” costume competition was an affair to remember—a delightful blend of creativity, audacity, and endearing mimicry that had even the most stoic of Scribes and stone-faced Warriors chuckling behind their scrolls and helms. The beasts outdid themselves in every way imaginable, capturing not only the visual essence of their chosen Free Persons but also—most impressively—their mannerisms, speech, and signature quirks.
The judges were put to the most agonizing of tasks, for the decision was no easy one. Each girl brought something utterly entertaining to the sands, and more than one judge had to double-check their parchment after a bout of laughter or surprise admiration. That said, in the spirit of competition, only three could emerge as prize winners.
And now, without further ado…
🥉 Third Place goes to Calypso, for her scandalously accurate and wildly amusing portrayal of the Merchant Caste's own Shelby Boseman. From the flair of her robes to the way she dramatically waved her fan and demanded finer wine, the impersonation was uncannily convincing… if not just a touch too accurate.
🥈 Second Place is awarded to Ivy, who rendered a striking tribute to her Master, Captain Gnaeus Balonius Scipio Hrimgarius. With her proud posture, commanding stride, and authoritative voice, one could almost smell the salt air and hear the clash of steel. A kajira portraying her own Master with such reverence and exactness? Truly a performance to honor.
🥇 First Place, with resounding acclaim, goes to Aytan, whose stunning embodiment of Lady Kaela Priscus Altius left the judges momentarily speechless—and perhaps Kaela herself mildly unnerved. From the impeccable veiling technique to the serene-yet-dangerously-diplomatic tone, the girl was… well… eerily convincing. There may or may not have been moments where we nearly stood when she spoke.
Prizes will be distributed shortly, and Lady Kaela herself will be passing out the judges’ scorecards for those curious to see how they fared across the categories.
To all who participated: you did splendidly. This event reminded us that even in a world of caste duty and harsh realities, there is room for levity, creativity, and the timeless joy of a kajira’s performance.
Congratulations to the winners—and well done to every girl who graced the sands with flair and fire.
In ink and honor,

➤ The Angiunus Pleasure Gardens
Word had begun to spread like perfume on warm air. Subtle at first, drifting through whispers in tea houses, passed between Scribes and Merchants, Physicians and Warriors, slaves and Free alike. The Angiunus Pleasure Gardens. Long rumored. Long delayed. Finally stirring to life.
Stone had been set weeks after the storm, quietly. Workers moved with intention now. Men in House livery unloading crates beneath dawn's light. Veiled women trailing behind with scrolls and ink. Fountains had begun to trickle where there once was dust, and the heavy scent of citrus and night-blooming flowers clung to the air in that stretch of the city, as if, something unseen had already begun to take root.
They said no coin was being spared. That each column bore the stamp of House Angiunus. That exotic silks, rare oils, and trained slaves from distant ports were already being received and tucked away inside. Some claimed the High Caste had walked the grounds at dusk in quiet inspection. Whispers spoke of it being no common brothel nor merchant's folly. But something much richer and finer.
A place of refinement, indulgence, and power veiled in pleasure. And yet... what exactly the Gardens would offer remained, for now, unspoken. That, too, was part of the lure.
